DVD Drive seems to take more "effort" to read 2009.1 redlight DVD
do any of you guys noticed that the DVD drive seems to "spin more" when using the copied ones? I am a bit concerned for the longevity of my dvd drive...
I tried using single layer and dual layer DVDs with the same effect.. When its first calculating the route and when its just idle... I can hear it just spin and read more... any one else have this problem? |

I thought it was only me. Yes, after I burned the 2009.1 CD, I hear the the CD is spinning more frequently. With the OEM CD, I barely hear it running at all. I'm not sure whether it's due to the CD brand...

Did some research and test..and found out that my disc was not burned properly. I researched my dvd burner and noticed it was behind on the firmware. Updated my firmware and re-burned my disc. The spin has reduced..hardly hear it. I suggest using quality dual layer too such as Verbatim Good luck

The worst part is that on the E46 you can't just replace the drive... nav and everything is contained in one unit... it was a $2500 swap... i ended up calling BMW and they swapped it no charge... ( i was out of warranty).
It's not worth it... just pay the $$ and be done with it... you don't need an update every time one comes out... just my thoughts. D |
