*Movie* BMW 335i e92 Vishnu V3.1 vs BMW M5 e60 560 hp

I participated in a race event last weekend and did a lot of good races.
One of the car I raced against was this BMW M5 e60 which is tuned to about 560 hp with a lot of mods.

My mods are: Vishnu V3.1, UR catted DP´s, Milltek catless exhaust, Race Cooling IC and DCI. And of course pump gas in the tank.

The race goes from 30 mph to 160 mph:
http://www.garaget.org/video/inx77q5r629k

I´m really happy that I was able to hold him behind me all the way up to 160 mph!

My car ran great the hole day with no limps or problems at all!

Why the big jump on the e92?
The outcome would have been different otherwise.

Torque curve, weight, gearing... possibly better driving/shifting... the e92 was pulling on him at the beginning after each shift... it wasn't until the gears got much taller that the m5 pulled

Nice video. Thanks for sharing.

Why do you say V3.1? Aren't the 5-29 maps considered 3.3? The zip file says v3.3 5-29.zip

You can run 3.x maps on both Rev I and Rev II hardware.

If he is on Rev I hardware than he was running:

Rev I hardware using V3.3 software - 5-29 maps.

Considering the M5 has the torque advantage over an M3, and in just about all cases, the M3 gets a jump on a 335, I don't think that's the complete story.

bro my friends father has an m5 and anything under 60mph and that car feels slower than my e36 m3,the car does nother under 5,500 rpm, literally nothing.

The m5 hits its peak torque at 6000 rpms.add the weight and this race shows eactly what I felt when getting rides in the car.The car will smoke anything if the race starts at 120mph tho,as you can see how fast it was catching up at the end.

De-cat those DP's and add some higher octane gas... that would be fun to watch

I guess the 30mph start (which was pretty braindead for the M5 owner to agree to) did it in. Probably was at the bottom of second. Anybody that starts at the bottom of a gear for a v10 that is not known for torque downlow I guess deserves to loose.

Really not very representative IMO

It kinda depresses me how BMW makes these big powerful N/A engines and then sells out for peak HP at the cost of any TQ at all. Like the M3 with what 424 HP and 299 TQ??? They should stroke these engines differently and/or change gear ratios to achieve more balance. I do like a high-revving N/A car for the track, but this is a bit extreme. Seems like they could make that same M3 engine put out about 375 HP and 340 or so TQ. I think that would be a better car.

I used to own a 350z and althought it is lower power I loved the ratio of 287hp and 274 tq (original 2003 crank ratings). I added a short-ram intake, equal-length headers and test pipes (cat delete pipes) and I put down 265 RWHP and 250 RWTQ. It was a decent mid-range torque car with a better top end around 6300 RPM's but then kinda dropped off after that when stock. With my mods the mid-range stayed about the same but I gained more up top and I could maintain pull up to about 6700 RPM's. The new M3 is like a 2-stroke motorcycle with no pull until almost 6k rpm's.

Yep. I guess they still live for the autobahn world. If they go to TTs on the next gen Ms that will offer a little shift to the low end Im thinkin.

I remember the day when turbos meant high rpm hp, now its shifted the other way.

Ive raced a friend's e92 m3 6mt about 15 times and I always get the jump ahead of him and he never gets me, neither when I shotdown at 155.
Same thing in one case whith an SMG but more competitive to be honest.

Mods: v3.3 RevI, RR DPs(cattles), UR CAI, Stock exhaust with 2dary cats deleted. 6mt

Torque peakup its just awesome ataround 3k rpms!

Seen the half dozen or so youtube vids?
Maybe its a driver issue.
IDK

But, having said that, it all depends on what the starting point is for these contests. With the completely different torque curves of these cars, at lower speeds the TT motor will have an advantage.
