Yes. If you can sell 328i yourself and then buy 330i used at a good deal.

It also depends on the year of your 328i. The newer, the more you are losing but either way you are losing big time unless you do what Kroy said which is finding a person who apprecaites the 328i and can sell him your car at a better price.

+1 . keep in mind that you fell in love with 335i so will others. trying to sell a 328 at a good price will be the key or you will take a big hit.

How good or bad of a deal it is depends a lot on the particulars. All cars will depreciate and you will "lose" money on your car. That being said, you can certainly make the best of it by selling your car yourself (do not trade it in except if you wish to lose money for the sake of convenience) and finding a good used deal. It also might be worth waiting until BMW comes out with a special on CPOs if you plan to go that route.

OP, if you're going to get used. I would highly recommend extended warranty. Just a thought.

I understand you have a hard on for a 335i. The only logical option you have is to sell your 328i, pay off the loan and then find your 335i. The only problem you might have is if you owe more then what the car is worth. Also consider the condition of the car and mileage it has on it. You can go to Kelly Blue book website to see what you can get for a private sale. In the future I recommend test driving more variety of cars so you won't go through this again.

I would take some things into consideration with making this upgrade as I was in a similar situation, not with a 328 but with my 08' G37 to a 335i.

The $ that you owe on that 328 is absolutely a huge factor in determining whether or not to do the upgrade. I wasn't upside down on the G37 so I was in a prime position to change cars at this point. Being that my G37 had a little damage on it and was somewhat high miles, going to the 335 got me a car that would likely retain the value a little better as well as shaving off 10k miles.

You are going to lose money, no way around that... best to minimize what you're going to lose and gain in other areas, such as turbos going pssssh value
