Hey,

BMW Norwell quoted me $1895 for the extended maintenance for a 335i. I believe this is $200 below MSRP.

Got quoted for about 2200 at BMW Norwell for extended maintenance.

Can someone explain how the 2 grand or so is worth the money for an extra two years of maintenance?

I can see the rationale of the extended warranty but for the maintenance I just dont see it.

the way i see it, it's pretty much an insurance policy....you shell out 2K now and hope there's a major problem during the extended warranty to get your money worth. it really all depends on your car.....if you had major issues during your time of ownership then you know in the long run it's going to give you more problems. I rather trade in the car and let someone else deal with the problems than pay the $2,000 but that's just me.

Brakes. Those alone get you close to the 2k.

I think I paid $1895 for my ext maintenance service through Gallery Group. Was planning on keeping her till about 6 years 80k miles but might trade her in earlier. From what I can tell, gets a full brake service, 2 oil changes, maybe 2 sets of wiper blades, maybe some fluids will be changed out. I most likely will pass on the ext maintenance next time around.

I'm not too sure for things like belts and steering alignments, although I'd consider them maintenance I don't think they'll cover those. Please correct me if this is wrong.

I'd received an email from my dealer a few weeks back with info from driverside.com...has all my dealer service history as well as upcoming maintenance servicing that needs to be done. Looks similar to MB's service A & B. Pricing out 2 service B's and 1 service A comes out to around $1400ish, but MB does not provide a brake change with that cost.

They list what's supposedly included and here is the schedule up to 90k miles according to the site. Personally I think "inspect" is sketchy and I doubt they rotate tires, but alas here are the details:

For 15k, 45k, 75k:
Inspect A/C and heating systems
Inspect seat/safety belts, SRS airbag units, and windshield washer systems
Safety check and road test
Inspect engine
Inspect transmission
Replace engine oil and filter
Inspect clutch
Rotate tires and inspect tread depth and wear pattern
Inspect suspension components
Replce cabin air filter
Inspect brake system and adjust hand brake
Replace gas filter
Inspect fuel system
Check horn, headlamp flashers, hazard flashers, and turn signals, lights, and controls
Inspect steering system
Inspect body corrosion and paint condition
Lubricate door, hood hinges, and locks
Inspect and adjust drive belt
Inspect and lubricrate electrical antenna
Inspect all fluid levels

for 30k, 60k, 90k - Includes all the above plus:
Change brake fluid
Replace spark plugs
Replace air cleaner/element
Replace valve cover gasket and brushings
Inspect timing belt
Inspect and adjust valve clearance
Flush and pressure test cooling system
Inpect and change differential fluid
Inspect and change drive belts
Service transmission
