Anyone run RC cars? I just picked up my first nitro powered car.

67 Vette:

Chassis:

This car supposedly reaches 50mph. I just can't get over the fact that this is a miniaturized (and simplified) version of a real car. You need to crank the motor and ignite the spark plug to get it started. You can see the air intake on top (the foam cylinder), and the exhaust on the passenger side. It even has oil-filled shocks. The only downside is that it's loud and my neighbors are not going to like it.

A few mechanisms have to be charged so I haven't had a chance to run it yet. Can't wait to try it out. Anyone else have something like this?

Check out some of the bodies available for it: http://www.hpiracing.com/hpibodies/200mm/ Having a hard time choosing one. The vette looks nice, but not really my style.

Yea I wish they had a body for the E92 M3. All of the BMW bodies I've seen have been E46's.

Those are fun, my brother and I played with those a few years back. He took great pleasure in destroying my brand new freshly painted bodies.

I did some 'mods' to mine. You will need better tires, and lots of replacement suspension parts, but that is part of the fun. I put a two speed trans in mine...it was insanely fast and very hard to control.

I got more interested in monster trucks later, they can take much more abuse and you don't need a billiard table to run on. We bought Traxxas T-Max trucks when they first came out. Now I have a REVO 3.3, and a Jato 3.3 set up for asphalt....both of which are just sitting on a shelf because I am old and useless.

I have a Savage XL and Warhead EVO. Not really a fan of nitro cars they're too fast for the street.

Yea mine was about $300. But you can easily add another $100 to it to buy the little extras you need to get it running.

I'm basically reliving my childhood here. I remember when I was a kid, everyone had all the cool RC cars and my parents only bought me the ones from radio shack.

I'm running a Nitro 4-Tec, it's a blast but it eats bodies and tires pretty quickly.

Watch out for the modding bug, things can get pricey real quick! You could practically build an entire RS4 from scratch with all the aftermarket parts that are available.

Fav is still my Supermaxx, can't beat the sound it makes and that I can run it in or over just about anything.

Not true anymore with the Lipo's and brushless system available now a days. They can produce explosive power delivery and insane top speeds.

HPI is a great beginners kit to start with, but if you build more interest in this hobby you should look into 1/8th scale kits known as the F1 to RCs, with a good motor it can launch from 0-95mph in 3 secs or less and for bodies look into Tamiya brand they are more pricey but more detailed and defined.

The best part with 1/10th scale is cause it can do this

I ended up wrecking the body the first day out. The car itself is fine though. The Tamiya bodies fit my 1/10th hpi?

This looks hot. I want an e92 version. I think someone on the forums owns the e90 one because I could swear I saw it in a pic once lol.
