Car in for service - any guesses what the issue might be?
No warning/service lights on
Strong soot smell through the vents and around the car. SA said "This stinks, i can't believe you didn't bring it in sooner!". I drove for about 100 miles after the initial symptoms, before I noticed the wistle sounds. I thought DPF was regenerating. Wistling sound under throttle, not neccessarily WOT either. Ideas? |

Doesn't this sound a bit like Ron1n's, albeit to a lesser degree?

Yes. The smell was out of the vents correct? The 3 series is prone to them failing and the smell is terrible. Just trying to think out of the box
