Batshit crazy mother-in-law

My mother in law comes over, my wife is not home...I am in the back raking leaves...and thankfully for her safety, she leaves...but not before she.....

She takes it upon herself to do me a "favor" and wipe off some bird crap from my trunk...WITH A PAPER TOWEL......I come around from the back and the first thing that my eyes see is the carnage that became my trunk lid...

Yesterday I did a full winter detail on my 08 M5 sapphire black using Menzerna PO85 and BFWD seal and topped with PB Natty's blue...the car was perfect...

Her damage was mostly undone with some SIP and PO85...but the neighbors had to be wondering what all of the cursing was about coming out of my gargage...

Thats what I get from reading this. Seems like you were a little harsh to her.

My Mom was riding in my back seat this weekend. We parked in an underground parking garage and she opened the door right into a concrete piller. The paint is dinged right on the corner of the door. She's my Mom so all I could do was grit my teeth and not say anything, on the inside I was like WTF are you thinking!!!

Dude relax, its a car. She's a human being and your MIL.

Rough attitude man, is this characteristic in your society? ...little respect.

I'll send her over to your house...so she can smoke cigarettes in your garage...sneak the beer from your fridge....and then rub bird shit into the paint with a paper towel into your Panamara....

Because that's what she does in my house...

I still have not said a word to anyone besides my wife....

And yes, I have kids...three boys that never bother with my car...

I completely understand where you're coming from OP. Some of you guys don't understand how frustrating it is when you spend a great deal of time, like a couple days detailing your car and polishing it so that not one swirl is visible, and then some careless person comes along and rubs gritty bird crap into your paint, ruining your work and damaging your paint. This has happened to me, except usually it's someone leaning against my car or rubbing the paint because of how smooth it is, even though it's dirty and theyre causing swirls. The most annoying part is when you ask them politely to not do what theyre doing, and they say don't be crazy I'm not causing any damage.

Turn this in to a learning experience. Next time you are over her place ask her if you can clean her glass top stove with Brillo.

She will then see the light.

I hear you and hope you are just venting as family runs deep. My ex mother law was great now my ex father in law would rub up against the car with his stupid cowboy type belt buckle, the size of a damn dinner plate, and leave scratches cause he was too lazy to walk around. He knocked over one of my dirt bikes once and never even said anything.
She probably does the things she does at your house becasue she feels at home, thats agood thing in the long run. But nicely tell her while you appreciate her concern you are very picky about your car and you'd appreciate if she would leave the maintenance to you.

hahaha funny story.

1. you spent hours prepping your car for what seems to be a car show, and leave it outside for the birds to shit on...

2. you're mother in law is nice enough to clean up shit/poo/feces for you...

lessons learned... ?

Agreed with OP and 328i. I understand she was trying to be nice, but this would frustrate me like crazy. Also agreed it's not worth verbally reaming her out, but I can totally understand the OP's need to vent here.

She was trying to help. Maybe try explain to her what that does to paint on a car. It was not being negligent, just ignorant.

But seriously, if you flip shit that easily over something that easy to fix, then I can't imagine your loss of temper when something SERIOUS happens....

I don't condone smoking marijuana, but you need to do something to ease that temper.
