Auto owers that have done this mod: Magnaflow Mufflers on stock piping.
I have an 08 e90. I am looking to get some extra "oomph" out of my exhaust system. Have the JB4 and did the canflap function but I desire more. I'm not looking into getting a whole system as they are expensive and provide little gains.
Now before someone hits me with the sign. I have done it but came away with more questions. I am thinking of adding a pair of Magnaflow Mufflers to my car. Not the thin bottle style cans but the larger oval style ones. My question is for those of the 335i owners (auto only) who has done this mod. IS THERE ANY DRONE??? Stock piping all the way through OEM DPS, OEM 2ndary CATS, and OEM resonators? If you have successfully done this type mod with no drone can you provide me with part numbers? Thanks! |

Yes, his is a MT. I don't think you'll need to worry too much about dron with ovals and all the cats.

i got magnaflow mufflers on my e92 335 auto trans. And it does drone on highway speeds. To be it isn't that bad and I get used to it. Just turn your music louder and the drone will go away. I want my exhaust to be louder. Might plan on getting a muffler delete. If you don't mind drone get the magnaflow mufflers because it will give your exhaust a deeper sound

Have you thought about just doing a resonator delete? The e90's have a resonator in the place where the e92's have an x-pipe. You can have the resonator deleted for about $50 at an exhaust shop, and it sounds pretty good.

With the set-up your talking about you will be fine. Only thing I have heard is that you will be losing the "H-Pipe" the stock auto exhaust has.
So if you are a believer in the "scavenging" theory of an H-Pipe / X-Pipe, you should have a muffler shop also put in an X-Pipe or an H-Pipe in the system. If you take the advice above and also remove your resonator, you can replace that section of pipe with an X-Pipe and you are good to go. However, if you are not partial the the scavenging theory mentioned above, then no worries. You will be good to go.
