The peak boost recall is USELESS.

Its measured pre throttle body. When the throttle closes it creates a false reading.

Only boost worth noting about is sustained boost through a pull.

Only accurate reading would be in the manifold.

Get a proper boost gauge people!

Dynos from car to car will vary. Based on several factors including mileage of the vehicle, Octane (gas quality), ambient temps, heat soak ETC

Also drivetrain losses are different.

I wouldnt question it too much as long as the delta is similar, the difference between stock and amount of HP gained.

This is Absolute Boost reading (Boost Abs.), which includes atmospheric pressure (14.7 psi). All boost references describe the delta from atmospheric pressure. In this case, take your reading and subtract ~ 14.7 psi, and that's the pressure seen pre TB. Based off your picture, you were not running any boost (cruising).

I also drove the 2011 335d and I feel that it also weights more than my 535 . They don't really weight that much of a different, probably 100 to 150 lbs more. I don't remeber the exact since I can't find them on BMWUSA, but someone here mentioned:
"According to the BMW website, the 335i weighs 3605 lbs, and the 535i weighs 3660 lbs. A difference of 55 lbs...? That doesn't seem right. What's the deal?"

So I am still confuse why the big diff gains.

Thanks. The delta is actually different:

335i - 93 Oct Stage 1 ~73hp
535i - 93 Oct Stage 1 ~44hp

Most likely drivetrains loses, but still wow...big diff. Guess I can live without those extra 44hp for now

Got it today and installed today without any difficulty. This was a lot easier than five years ago with the WRX when I had to turn myself upside down to get to those damned test mode connector things.

I didn't get a chance to really drive it (downtown traffic and I only work 4 miles from home), but tomorrow evening will be good...

I'm nervous about engine temps. I am one of those rare (after '07) cars WITHOUT a factory oil cooler despite getting the Sports Package (on xDrive coupes, the sports package did not include the oil cooler... it was a "hidden" option that was not written anywhere but only got put in if you ordered the larger wheels... what the HELL bmw? Impossible for the average customer to know about this without researching...)

Anyway, I'll see how things go. I don't track or race or anything... I just like stepping on it for short sprints on the highway, entrance ramps, etc.

These new v2 AccessPorts are so much nicer than the original AccessPort. those were big blocky things with a couple of lines of text display only. Then again, remember before that when Cobb just had the AccessECU and you had to mail in your ECU?

ah, Cobb... it feels good to be part of your family again...

or just scroll down to the very bottom, it shows actual boost (minus atmosphere :P )

535 vs. 335 power differences

All you guys asking about / speculating why the differences in power on the 535 vs. the 335, I was wondering that myself, and started a thread on it here. Nothing to do with weight (IIRC, the 535 only weighs a few hundred pounds more?) Or with its more restrictive exhaust.

Rob replied as to why:

We simply released conservative dyno maps for the 535i given we didn't want to give the typical power range.

We will be re-dynoing the 535i once it's mechanically sound and/or looking for another 535i to re-create our dyno graph off of.

Cheers,

Is there only a 30 WHP bump in the stage 1 tune? I thought it was more than that? Or is that b/c it's an 07, and for 08+ models it's more?

Good find, I knew the tunes were the same. Weight doesnt really effect power to the wheels for the most part. However, a longer, heavier driveshaft would as well as other drivetrain parts that may be larger, longer, or bulkier.

I thought I remembered reading it was something related to specifics of that particular car.

I have seen more gain from stage1 on other cars.

May be it's because my car is an AWD, with Steptronic and 46k miles on it.

Thats also on a mustang dyno, which increases load as speed increasing making it really hard on the engine to produce big hp numbers. for comparision, on a dynojet i agained 66hp.

Now that we have 07 support out in the market and becoming stabalized, I think next up was getting stage 2 maps out to the masses.

Any update on stage 2 cobb?

Being new to this sort of thing, is this product able to be tracked by the dealer? I do not want to void warranty but sure do want the performance. I saw that you can clear the ECU data to get rid of the check engine lights and warnings, but can the dealer see that the ECU has been scrubbed? Thanks in advance for your input.

No, if you plug in th AP and scroll down to the "uninstall" feature, there will be no tracing left whatsoever of the tune.

It's been over a few months since the N55 Cobb tune was announced for development. Is there any news on this product yet?

Cobb datalogs

Bought Cobb last week and luvin it. Great support from Cobb, great help from Jeff@topgear, great product. I'm an excel guru (more than a car guru, actually), and I'm looking for the decoder ring to all the datalog fields. I mean, am I the only one who doesn't know what WGDC % is, or the difference between TPS act. and TPS req?
Can someone post a datalog primer (or show me where one exists)? I'm tired of plotting timing and boost vs RPM and 0-80 mph graphs.
Thanks.

WGDC = Wastegate Duty Cycle

TPS Act. = TPS (Actual) or throttle blade angle

TPS Req. = TPS (Requested) or throttle commanded from the pedal

I've attached one of my Excel 2007 datalog + pivot table graps to this reply. You'll still have to manipulate it a bit for your data capture, but it should give you an idea of how we're creating the graphs.
