M3 Tri Stitch Steering Wheel

Hi guys,

I'm very close to upgrading my current sport steering wheel (no paddles) to the M3 TriStitch with paddles.

The cost is roughly:
$570 wheel + shipping
$150 BMS retro harness + shipping
$90 Steering wheel Control Module

Who here has made the swap and is it worth the ~$900 that its going to cost me?

Has adding the paddles caused any issues for anyone?

When installed, do the paddles only react in sport mode (07 e90 335) or will I be able to shift with the paddles in regular drive mode as well?

Cheers!

My opinion is that it's a waste of 900 dollars for a steering wheel, but then again I spent 500 dollars on powder coating my rims, so what do I know.

I upgraded from the sport wheel to the M3 wheel but had paddles to begin with so can't comment on whether paddles are worth the cost or not. I can however confidently say that the M3 wheel (with or without paddles) is of much higher quality, is thicker, and the feel makes driving nicer every time you step into the car.

Upshifting or downshifting with the paddles from any mode will automatically move you over to Manual. The only annoying part is that if you go into M from Regular mode, you'll need to move the gear selector to S and back again to revert unless I'm missing something.

Yeah Desi4Life10 had done the upgrade including the paddle shift retrofit, to the MSport wheel though. Too bad he's been banned now. He's available on the BMWTrueNorth FB group though. I've personally done the upgrade to the MSport wheel and I love it. Same thickness as the M3 wheel but has perforated leather on the sides as opposed to smooth leather. Top and bottom area are the same type of leather as the M3 from what I can tell. It just doesn't have the tri-colour stitching but I didn't care about that. What is included with the $570 wheel? Not sure about the need for a "Steering wheel Control Module"? I didn't do the paddle shift retrofit though so mine was a straight swap job that Desi helped me with.

The $570 includes the wheel and paddles only. I would have to use the trim, airbag and buttons from my wheel.

The control module is required as part of the retro fit to add the paddles apparently.

The more feedback I get the more this sounds like a good idea
