Just picked up my Ruby Black a few hours ago.....what a lot of fun! That colour is just amazing in the sun (lousy iPhone photo attached....) - the red undercurrent is fantastically deep. Love the tone of the pipes, too, a nice growl.

BMW Apps appears not to be there (or not enabled?) - but I have no idea what they actually are. They should, however, be there, as I have the original German build ticket and they are listed. That means they must be part of the Executive Package.

So - can anyone tell me what they actually do?

Edit: found a full description elsewhere on this forum....don't care about Twitter or Facebook, but the streaming radio is kinda cool. Hmmm...I can listen to hockey games when I'm not in town (would be more exciting if the Flames won more often)!

I'll get out the 'real camera' and dish out some nice pix in the sun. Interestingly I noticed that the red shows up best (in my 35 seconds of noticing it....) when the sun is higher in the sky.

I tried to show a pal the colour, but it was pushing 6, the sun was low and it was fairly hard to see - there, but hard to tell. However, as the guy was backing it into the staging garage the sun was brilliant and wow, did it look sweet.

Thanks! Actually, BMW Gallery.

Oddly enough, though they are owned by the same (rich) guy, Gallery is more aggressive on pricing - at least that's been my experience to date.

My 330i I purchased at Calgary BMW and all the others from Gallery.

Not sure exactly the context of the original messages, but my suggestion is that, if you want the 'dealer' to take care of you, you have a forlorn hope. Get to know one of the salespeople over time - I suggest an 'older' one. Why? Because they know how to take care of their customers. (Just my experience. The young guys know lots about the vehicles. They often just don't know about people....)

My guy is pretty close to my age (that is, close to retirement - yay!) and I've now dealt with him for about 10 years.

He calls me when something is 'right'.

The salesman i purchased my current car from has been there for many years, it ticks me off that i constantly have to contact and light a fire under his ass regarding this when he fully knows i am VERY interested, i have told him this on more than one occasion!! Guess they don't want my cash, looks as though i will be giving my business to the dealer in Regina. I have heard many good things about them from local owners here. I will be making my last phone call to voice my opinion regarding this, they have a car that's been apparently been on the lot for weeks!!

Regina is owned by Dilawri - they are a huge group (both Calgary dealerships among many others) and, as much as I hate to say it, are very well run in a number of respects. First and foremost, you can examine ALL of their inventory, new and used. Most have only used available.

Second, because they are so big, they seem to get vehicles that others don't. I'm not sure how often that happens, but frequently enough.

Third, (nasty part coming) they are fairly high priced, but are open to negotiation. Maybe one just ends up in the 'right place' anyway!

sy2767, where are you located?

Hey Morphius, can you post a pick of your car with the 3m guard? I'm tempted to put it on mine as well (hood and full front bumpber) but the store manager said since its black, the seams would be more prominent.

Thanks.

My car is filthy ont he exterior so I'll take a picture later today to show what it looks like when it's dirty.

As for when it's shiny clean, I can hardly notice it. So I'll wash it this weekend and take some pics too.

Washed my ruby black last weekend for the 1st time - can't even see the seams. But my sales guy told me that they don't use 3M - they use a different product that seems to disappear more. No idea what its called. They did the hood, front bumper, mirrors, and some of the quarter panels. I'm looking at getting some more done on the bottom runners and maybe on the back bumper where people rest stuff like golf clubs....

I can't speak for all brands of clear protective films, but what they all normally don't protect from is an ordinary ungroomed cat. An ordinary cat's claw is hard enough to leave a permanent deep scratch in the car's clearcoat. As for the various protective films... one cat with sharp paws and you'll have to redo the whole thing. So, if you are going to do the protective film, make sure the car is garaged every night and/or that all cats that have access to it are groomed.

Don't forget kids in the backseat! Is there a protective film for the rear seats and interior panels? Lol
