Mobil vs. Castrol

I am about to do my first oil change and I was wondering about oil brand to pick. I know there been infinite battles over which oil to buy, but all let practically nowhere.

So I visited Castrol website and for E90 they have 5W30 Synthec
Mobil1 has 0W40 for E90

Now I am confused which one to buy. Anybody can help me? Thansk

Mobile all the way. Make sure you check out the DIY for oil changing.

It states 5w40 or 5w30 depending on which region you are at. Do a search and you will find all the answers. This has already been discussed.

0W-40 will be fine. BMW recommends Castrol for marketing purposes. It really doesn't matter which company you choose, as long it's high quality.

Oil cap in E90 says Castrol recommended.
I have my choice: Mobil1 5w30, $27/6qt at Costco.

Read the manual again if you don't mind. It says Mobil1 5w30. Sometimes, reading the manual gives you a better idea.

LL01 is an older spec, they are now up to LL04! (which is 0W-30 in fact)

The Castrol LL04 is £14.99 for 1 litre in the UK ($28)
