1. Push the cupholders in when its not being used (which is most of the time)
2. Passenger seat has to be same/nearly same position as driver's seat (i hate if they're out of alignment lol)
3. Heat/AC must be off when exiting the car
4. +1 on the temperature setting being the same
5. i do not tolerate objects rolling around in the seats or on the floor (ex: water bottles, books, loose change etc)
6. If we got food inside the car (carry out, pick up etc) we're riding with windows down i dont care how cold/hot it is (with heat/AC on if it gets to extreme temps) i dont want the car smelling like food after

Garage List
1. In my old sedan I had to have all 4 of my windows matched if they were lowered, now I have a coupe, 2 less windows to worry about.

2. Wheel always straight when parked.

3. Furthest spot possible from other cars.

4. Always try to pump an even dollar amount of gas into the car ex. $60.00, $60.50.

5. Press the lock button on the FOB 10+ times even after hearing the car beep.

i also keep only my angel eyes on as long as i can cuz it looks so much better than with the headlights on

when i park i usually end up pulling the e-brake one more tick to make sure it stays put

i always play around with the windows until the side near the mirrors is exactly dividing the corner of the window

i always let myself roll back when starting uphill not sure why

Glad we are all normal here and that we take care of our cars.

+1 rolling to a stop; why engage the brake.

+1 identical temp settings.

+1 park far enough to avoid lazy and careless drivers, but park close enough that your car isn't a sore thumb for seagulls or driving instructors.

+1 check tire pressure nearly weekly.

Here are some oddities:

Click all four power window switches to make sure the windows are closed, which they are, but just checking.

Lock the car once again with BMW remote app while at work.

Put my loose change in an altoids box, in the arm rest.

Place black towels under and around driver's rubber mats in winter to avoid salt stains on carpet.

Always put door shox on when parked in garage to avoid door dings.

*I have to let me car warm up at least 5 minutes in the morning.. What if I need to accelerate rapidly once I get on the road and I still have a dead cold engine?
*I downshift as much as possible before braking
*At a stop light I always make sure I am in first gear by shifting to second then back up to first. Repeat as needed
*I always hold my shifter when I drive (I read somewhere that I shouldn't do this, but whatever)
* I admittedly look at myself way too much as I drive..Not to admire myself, but to make sure I don't develop a bat in the cave.. or grow a stray facial hair..
*cup holders in when parked.

i do some of these too and remembered even more:

the e brake extra click up i do

angel eyes only as late as possible i do

i ALWAYS roll up all 4 window buttons as im pulling in even if they are closed, just to be sure

and i obsessivly check the ebrake and make sure its fully down while driving. when i first started driving stick a few years ago the e brake was up just one tiny click, not enough to engage or show the alert, but from then on i cant stop checking and making sure its all thew ay down

+2 to a lot of things on here.

To add:

1. I ensure my lane changes are crisp to match the triple turn signal, especially on the highway (can't be still lane changing when there's no blink).
2. I have a dedicated soft brush to wipe off brake dust every 3-4 days. Can't stand that 2-3 week build up between washes.
3. I beat out my mats once I see any accumulation of debris (even in parking lots).
4. A/C vents need to be aligned with some sort of symmetry. When they're all over the place, it bothers me.

Every sentence ends with either "lol" or "haha" except for the one about the steering wheel. Apparently you are very serious about keeping your steering wheel straight.

P.S. haha

Your post is possibly the first sensible thing this thread has thus far produced, Sara.

I always do that and even after doing that action...I end up pressing the lock button on the key-fob like ten times as i'm walking away. To add to that, when i'm away from the car, I unlock it and lock it to make sure I locked it. It really sucks not having a beep when it locks.

More things to add to the list...

1) Every time i'm in the car, I always wipe all the aluminum pieces with my hands clean to make sure there are no finger or palm prints. (That includes aluminum strip on steering wheel, shifter and paddle shifters)

2) All windows must be even. I especially do that during summer when its hot. I crack the windows down about 1/2 inch and put on the automated ventilation fan.

3) Steering wheel must be straight,

4) I always upshift when I'm in 6th gear with the paddle shifters because I love the action.

5) The blinker and lane changing habit is one I always do, but for some reason I always have to have my front wheel not touch the dotted white line.

i like to drive with my door locked because i tend to put my hand on the window and the little stub bothers me, and having 1 door locked makes we want to lock all 4 for equal opportunity lol

Or when it is 72 and 71.

Dear passenger,

Do you think you can feel 1/72 of a difference? You must be trolling.

Here are a couple.

1.) I never like coming to a complete stop at a light since I don't want my hot pads/rotors leaving uneven dust marks if I just stop and hold in one place.

2.) When I park, I always have to put the car in neutral, put on the e-brake, then put it into park.

3.) I can never have my windows open with the A/C on, it's either one or the other.

4.) When I park, I always need to park closer to the left (My drivers door) because I safely assume the car on my left doesn't have a passenger so my door won't get dinged.

5.) I can't use my front visor because I hate how it limits my vision with the small little visor.

6.) My wife never drives, whether it's her car or mine, I always drive. I'm a horrible side seat driver, like if she comes to a light and a car is in the right lane and no one in the left and she just stays behind the car in the right, it makes my heart rate double!

Just curious if I'm the only strange guy on here.
Love this! I "struggle" with certain car related OCD habits too, namely:

1) I share number 4
2) I always leave the car and the arrangment of the interior's contents exactly the same, as organized and neat as possible (items cleared out of the holding space below the transmission handle, any items that don't belong in the car all of the time are immediately taken out, I always have the same certain things in the center console, etc)
3) I have the mediocre OEM 17s and still wipe the brake dust off of them at least every other evening after parking it in the garage for the night. Same with the Dimisa exhaust tips.
4) every time I come home, I pull into the garage, pop the hood and turn two fans pointed towards the areas that would retain heat and I attempt to dispell the heat as quickly as possible.
5) I will sooner upshift if in M mode on the 6AT to gradually slow down, to also minimize brake usage but also to enjoy the noise
6) I dont like passengers, especially when they want to control the music, temperature settings
7) perhaps the saddest OCD habit- I hate it when the two front seats positions don't line up. Dumb...

Not all necessarily driving-habits related, but being obsessive compulsive is better than its disorganized opposite I suppose

I do most of the stuff other people do on here so I don't feel so bad aboout being so OCD.

1 other thing I do: If I am wearing a leather jacket, I take it off to drive. If my belt can rub on my seat back, I put a small towel between my belt and the seat back so my seat backs don't get burnished by the rubbing of the two leathers.

Ah yes, I forgot that I take out my George Cosanza sized wallet out of my back pocket whenever I drive.

I can't count the number of times I think I've lost my wallet but meanwhile it just fell in between the seats.
