So... what's next? How long does it generally take to get a production number and production week, so I can start following the car minute-by-minute? I'm dying to know if PDC is feasible on the dates that I want, too!

Wow. I can't believe that in a couple months, I'll have the car. Just thinking about it puts a big smile on my face.
Congrats. Yes, you should probably be a June delivery, but it will depend on how fast you get into production.

Your SA will be able to tell you your production number within a day or two. If he doesn't email it to you by Thursday, shoot him an email, he should have it already. Then you can sign up on bmwusa.com with your production number and set up an account. They'll have a tracking page on there (remember, it might have the wrong options for a few days until it's updated), however I suggest you use the 800 number to track your car. (1-800-831-1117). I find the 800 number is usually only a day or two behind whereas the website is several days behind.

If you don't get much information by the beginning of next week, call the number and actually talk to someone (say "Customer Relations"), and they should be able to tell you even more detailed information. My car was in production the week after I ordered it, so it shouldn't take too long assuming your dealer had a car to modify for you.

Check the tracking thread at the top of this section for more info.

Thanks much. I anticipate my CA - who I haven't actually met in person yet - will get rather sick of my excited rookie questions pretty quickly.

A buddy told me this morning that I need to focus more on breathing slowly and deeply, or I'll never make it two months. Ha!

Where are the Mignon and Fedora from? WW just shows the Patriot, Tasco, and the Courage. Perhaps we can make it in time for the Mignon if that's an option.

They come into New York (actually Jersey), right? That's the list from WW from Bremerhaven to NY. Do I have the wrong US port? That's where my 5 series came through in 2002.

Well now that's weird. I'm in NC, so my car would come from the Charleston, SC port, so that's what I searched. They don't show the Mignon or Fedora coming through. I wonder why that is. I wonder if those boats really aren't coming to SC.

Aha, now I think we're on to something. Maybe we'll have a boat race!

You're on!

Actually, even if you got on the Mignon on the 2nd and I got on the Tasco on the 5th, I'm a lot closer to port than you, so it might end up pretty close.

I just realized my error. I thought there was only one VPC for the east coast. I didn't know there was another in SC.

Better hope we're not on the same boat, they go to NY first!

The funny thing is, as long as I thought this would take, we're almost certainly both getting our cars in May, not June.

If I leave on the 5th, I should be just about perfect for a delivery on the week of the 25th.

Yep.

I'm coming out of a lease June 25th (bye bye blue benz) and wanted mid-June delivery. Looks like it could be a May delivery.

Oh, it'll take a few days, to get to port and get on a boat, so just check out what boats are coming your way near the end of your completion date.

I don't know what port you're coming into since you're on the west coast. Find that out and you can search that port departures for a time close to you.

Not quite sure I fit in with my ED order... but I pick up the car in Germany June 5th. I'm starting to have problems with my 350Z, so the anticipation of the new 335 is getting out of control!

Well, it's not going to be the Patriot. I'm in transit to the port. Mignon seems unlikely. Come on Tasco!

Yeah, that's pretty much what I expect. I think the Tasco is the one for us.

I'm thinking Tasco too. Completed production yesterday so 5/5 seems reasonable. Can't wait!

Looks like we already have a pretty good Tasco group started. Once someone is confirmed we'll make a thread for it and start tracking.

Edit: Then again, if I somehow manage to hit Mignon, I won't complain.

Hey, I suggest a visit to this site while you wait: http://www.bmw-werk-regensburg.de/lo.../en/index.html

It's the factory's website (at least the one I was built at and I assume most of you probably work). It's got some interested reading on it and before you know it you'll be 10 minutes closer to your car being here.
