Mileage should not really be affected. The D that I have was produced in the fall 2011 with all the changes already implemented, and my mileage is quite good considering the slow city traffic in the summer and the cold winter driving in stop and go.

Worst city mileage was 22USMPG in -30 to -40 Weather.
Best Hwy mileage at 70mph is around 42-44USMPG.

All this with a motor not really settled in yet.

In all seriousness though I went from Sedan (330i) to Coupe (335i) back to Sedan (335d). The coupe was great while I had it but overall I like the sedan the best. My 335d M-Sport chassis feels much stiffer and the car feels better planted at high speed than my E92 ever did, even on the Nürburgring. I don't think I could give up this amazing M57 engine just to get a coupe, or any options I don't have, either.

Besides, the novelty of the seat belt assist wears off VERY quickly.
I think I would be happier if I had the sport package. I only have the cold weather and premium packages. No navigation either I would love to do a seat swap and navigation retrofit but at that cost I might as well just swap for an f30.

Got mine back today following the recall. They replaced the EGR valve and DEF metering valve, and reflashed the ECU. They had it for 2 days because following the work they were getting a check engine light with "scr metering valve fault code". According to the paperwork, they submitted a PUMA case to BMW, and then they resolved the issue. Car runs great - same power, and the economy is what I would have expected on the 25 mile drive home.

The dealer loaned me a new X3 35i, which seemed like a nice enough car, but it's no D! It lacks the growl, the right now immediacy of the D's torque, and the seemingly effortless way the D goes about its business.

Hi everyone, 09 My 335D with 76,000km just had the recall work done which my dealership thought was the reason my car was stalling.(was sent back to them on a flat deck) I was told the faults cleared off after they changed out the parts and reflashed. A large section of the exhaust system was changed out and I was shown on the service writers computer what the new the urea mixer looked like in comparison to the old. The new design has a less restrictive fan/turbine vrs the much tighter oem fan .

I was only able to drive my car approx 35 miles traveling though Calgary and south on why 2 when it stalled out again and left me a second time stranded road side (yeah, wonderful, yet another trip on a flat deck back to the dealer). I gotta say though that BMW road side assistance is top notch and if this keeps up I may just end up asking the gal that keeps rescuing me out on a date! Apparently this recall work wasn't the issue with my car! ,But what I can say from the short time I drove it, was that my car felt like it pulled substantially harder off the line even with moderate throttle. I never floored it, but with even half throttle it felt much meatier and torquier than it did previously. I liked it! well, er up until blaaaaahhhh _______" http://www.e90post.com/forums/images...es/mad0260.gif

Got the letter today. Found this part interesting:

Quote:
"BMW internal analysis has shown that certain emissions components, including the SCR catalyst, the DEF mixer and the EGR valve may not be robust enough over increasing vehicle mileage."
Mine is a 2009 so I'm guessing a few things will be done on my D which might actually yield better mileage returns.

my 2009 has been at the dealer since Thursday morning, they gave me a 12 X5 35i. They called me Friday saying it may be over the weekend so i traded it for a X5 35d, told them to keep the car as long as they want, put it at the bottom of the list. Really enjoying the X5d!

Car went in for 2 recalls, CEL, oil service, bluetooth acting up.

I agree. But who knows if my current 2009 is also less efficient than the new parts will be.

Just received "BMW Voluntary Emissions Recall Campaign SCR Catalyst, EGR Valve, and/or DEF Mixer and ECU Software Flash Campaign Number: ECR-B0001-12-001"

Is this what the Canadians are getting?

Both for 2009 X5 35d and 2011 335d, wondering if it should be done still...

That is exactly what I got Adrian. Get it done man. Last thing you want is some crap going wrong down the road and the dealer pinning it on you for not "voluntarily" bringing in your vehicles.

You make a good point! Hopefully this time I won't forget to tell them to replace my passenger door rubber seal because it's totally demolished! It's very strange for a 2011 car to need that replaced so early...

How long did the Service take? Would they be able to lend me a car for the day, last time I went to BMW Autohaus for an oil change they wanted to charge me a rent fee of $40 for a BMW or $20 for any other type of car

That sucks, my bmw dealer gave me a 2012 x5 with 120 miles, then I traded it for a x5d with 1200 miles. I've had it for close to a week now, no extra charge. Love it.

I set up an appointment for June 18th (have last two weeks of June off work) and was told it would take the day. I was then asked if I would need "shuttle service" and I said "No, I will need a loaner."

hmm how come last time when i went to the shop (for oil change) they told me if I wanted a loaner I would have to pay $40 a day for a BMW and $20 a day for any other make?

Is it because it was just an oil change?
Happened at BMW Autohaus at bathurst and Steeles.

It's the dealer. Mine has complementary loaners. Maybe it's a Canada thing?

Booked an appointment at Maranello BMW next week monday for the 335d and wednesday for the x5d. Asked for a loaner, they said they don't have any loaner BMW's ready that quick but will have another enterprise rental free of charge for both days,

I'm guessing it depends on the dealership whether or not you'll get a loaner because at BMW Autohaus they wanted to charge me for a loaner
