We have a MakerBot Replicator 2, I believe it uses Polylactide. So essentially a Plastic. It's nothing too Fancy I believe the machine cost about 2 Grand. I think we use some version of Auto Cad with some 3D scanning technology as well.

If it can take a VRML, SAT file or step file, or there's other formats let me know and I'd pay for printing and materials etc. I want to try and do a flat shift plate for the shifter that creates the groves for a 6 speed painted or wrapped. What's the max size you can print?

Not sure what yet. We have a 3D printer so, hopefully I can come up with some cool design that can fit in that space!
Let me know if you get it worked out..... I would love to have 335is badges for mine!!!

No real limitation really. Because you can couple multiple pieces together for larger projects and it works out real well. We did a 6foot Eiffel Tower haha.

But if you want it just one piece you can take a look at the makerbot site. I think the space is big enough to fit a size 11 shoe in but really haven't measured the area. I'll take a look when I go into the office tomorrow. If you have an iPhone we can FaceTime and you can see for yourself.

I'll have to check on the type of files our software takes.

Sounds good. Yeah I do and I'll measure up the outside dims of the shifter boot to see what size envelope would be needed to work in. Thanks.

A friend of mine made a large funnel using it. Two pieces, then joined them together. He uses it in his homemade brewery haha. I guess the grains or hops or something go through it. Lol I don't think beer (no idea) but it worked real well he was saying.

I was thinking I could make that part I was looking for and then wrap it in brushed aluminum or polished aluminum, the groves would be difficult but they could be painted black instead of wrapping inside them. I havent seen any of those sold anywhere.

Wow Looking great OP!
I want that Hood! The form of the CF hoods has certainly come a long way since the first gen. When rather than a smooth round power dome, was a boxy looking thing lol
