Spare key settings?

My car came with 2 keys when I first picked it up I was given a brand new looking one on a key ring and the other one looked a bit battered in a wallet.

Thought nothing of it until I thought I try it today (as I didnt want the battery to go flat in the key and thought it may charge up whilst in the ignition). However as soon as I put the key in the seat moved into a different postion, the wing mirror both sides moved positions, heating came on at full blast 28 degrees and the radio station came on even though I had left it on usb?

I presuem this has been programmed in somehow but can anyone tell me how I can programme my settings?

Just put everything the way you want it while the key is in the ignition. Turn off the car and remove the key. The new settings are saved to the key.

YES!! It's a complete reset, but it don't delete sat nav address or phone book as its not save as part of the key settings

It will feel like a new car !!

lol, you must have been shitting it when all that happened!

The odd few times I have gone out with the wrong key have been amusing.

I dont recall there being a setting for that in the iDrive. It would probably just be easier to plug the key in adjust and unplug. Job done.

I think you can get the keys to sync if you unlock the car with the key that has all the settings you want. Then lock the car with the key that you want to transfer the settings to.

Hi there, my settings won't save when I go back to the car the next morning... I inputted addresses into my address book for a long journey which took ages and when I checked in the morning they were gone. One of my keys also won't stay on the settings it was put onto when I lock the car and come back... Doesn't anyone know why this would do this??
