I work in Chesterfield Shortie if you want me to go along and have a look - I'm actually picking some parts up tomorrow afternoon at Stratstone - do you want me to get some shots of it, or take a look?

Is it me, or does it look like it has SE suspension?

I think with normal driving and a working thermostat they usually last until 120k before needing a replacement at a cost of around £1,500.

You will never know the true usage of a car but a good indicator might be to check the hidden coolant temperature. I keep my eye on this and i have seen it fall slightly recently. Whilst it was still in ok range if i left it any longer it might have prevent the DPF from functioning correctly so as i precaution i changed the stats.

Most people have no idea about this so i bet there is a lot of cars driving around with woolly stats which will eventually lead to DPF failure.

Keep it burning and you shouldn't have any problems. If you are really bothered i'm sure you could ask them to run a diagnostic on the car to check the back pressure mB readings for the DPF at idle, 2k and redline plus check the coolant temp after 15 mins of driving.
Cheers Briers, great info there, thank you for the help

Anything specific you want me to look at / ask? Or any close up photos eg drivers seat leather bolster etc?

The advantage of staying with the E90 is i have a brand new winter wheel set up waiting to go on.

Haven't put them on this one in case i did not get another E90 and thought i would recoup more money keeping them new.

Seat bolster is a good call, number of owners and when is the next service due. Only if you have enough time though

That budget will easily get you into a AUC 330d..

What do you class as high miles?

I think thats the problem, im in the old fashioned mindset where 50k seems high lol. With the right engine i guessed in reality it is only just worn in

mate, you could easily negotiate the price down on the AUC 325D by a £1000 I'd say....

So that leaves me with a dilemma, the car should fingers crossed be gone by the end of the week so i am going to have to act fast as i going to be without a car.

Do i trust BMW again and just put it down to buying a bad one or do i go elsewhere. The way i see it now is my choice of manufacturers is Audi, BMW, Jaguar or Merc as anything else will feel like a backwards step.

So max budget is 15k but less if possible lol. Has to be atleast half leather interior, preferably full leather and has to be 4/5 doors. Estate would be ok but they seem to carry a hefty premium so may have to just make do with the roof box and it has to be 2007 (07) plate or newer for my private reg.

So far things that have stood out

Spotted this E90, slightly less common colour but reds tend to fade.

And this E60:

Neither are highly spec'd but livable. Also with the current horror stories of the N47 engine and timing chain issues i am not sure either is a good choice.

Leaves the outsider option which i do not know a lot about:

If you can find anything better spec'd i am looking for options lol

I was the same as you...

Years back I bought my OH a 206 GTI. It was low miles and since then we've piled miles on it, I've done the cambelt etc on schedule and it has never put a foot wrong. Still have it now. It drives/starts/stops just the same as when we first bought it..

Now that's on a cheap french heap.. It's changed my opinion on higher mileage cars.

I'd not worry about it on something like what we're on about. My 335d is on 77k and it's like new.

Any thoughts on this 325d LCi?

http://www.jct600.co.uk/dealerships/...58oxm-18852064

My understanding thanks to a very helpful member is its the same 3.0 engine with a different ECU but the newer parts. Downside its not AUC

Coopersim, incredible mate, thank you

Can't believe you gave it such a thorough going over, looks like it will need a big service soon, doesn't look too bad condition that a good machine polish would not sort out.

Thank you so much for doing that for me mate
