2007 Auto Transmission Question

Hello,

I have a 2007 335i sedan, automatic transmission, paddle shifters, sport package, premium package, I-Drive, etc.

When starting from a complete stop, the transmission seems like it's slipping...ie the rpms increase to ~1500rpm as I pull away but the acceleration from the car seems to be less/inconsistent with what would reasonably be expected. It's feels like someone who is slow to let out the clutch on a manual transmission car...the revs go up but the car doesn't accelerate consistent with the increase in rpm. The up/down shifting is firm/quick the rest of the time.

Is this normal (I just got the car)? It has 20k miles on it and has the balance of the factory warranty. I used the search feature but didn't see this addressed. My appologies if I missed it.

Other than the above "quirk", I really like this car! It's my DD and with a 100mile daily commute, it makes the time much more enjoyable.

Thank you,

Jim

From your description, it sounds like an issue that I recently experienced. The dealer reset the transmission adaptation and everything is fine.

Thank You for the responses. Looks like I'll make an appointment with the dealer and have them update the software.

I would try resetting the adaptation before updating the to the latest software...because your car is an '07 like mine, it's PROGMAN is likely pre-29.2. I consider that to be a "good thing."

It looks like you only have a couple of posts...if you haven't, I suggest skimming through the 29.2 thread...take a look before updating your software in haste:

Read how to reset your transmission.

I barely press the pedal down from a light, maybe 5-10 percent and it goes just fine. Then again I flog my car regularly. My transmission knows I mean business.

I just got finished resetting the adaptation. Much improved! Heck of a read on the 29.2 s/w, thank you for the link. I have a Lot to learn regarding this car.

I've been an instructor for the BMW CCA, PCA, Corvette, etc for years but this is the first BMW I've owned. I always enjoyed them from the right seat as an instructor on the race track. The car is a blast as a DD.

My track day toy is a little north of 500hp, has suspension mods, etc and I know every inch of the car. For those that are curious ...

I do my own work...

The 335i...

Definitely looking forward to learning about the BMW!
