Talking Yankees!!!

So far, Jacoby Ellsbury and Brian McCann signed up for 7 years and 5 years, respectively!

Gotta admit, the Ellsbury signing was completely unexpected, and kind of a head-scratcher.

With Gardner, Soriano, Wells, and Ichiro already in the outfield, don't see why Ellsbury seems to be a higher priority than Cano.

Neeeeed to resign Cano! Can't let him walk away for nothing, and be forced to move like Nunez to second, which will be a defensive disaster.

Assuming Cano sticks around somehow, our starting line-up will be insane! Ellsbury to lead off, followed by (2) Gardner, (3) Jeter, (4) Cano, (5) Soriano, (6) Teixeira, (7) [Rodriguez?], (8) McCann, (9) Ichiro/Wells.

If we can resign Cano, and add another respectable starter for our rotation, 2014 Championship, here we come!!

I think you forgot to mention that we need better pitching.

But you are 100% correct. We need better pitching.

I hate the Ellsbury signing which is also a 7 year contract( with an option for an 8th). We already have an Ellsbury in Gardner. Also, considering the Yankees offer to Cano is 7/$160 million, I would be insulted if I was Cano. Ellsbury got $153 million, and the Yankees are only offering a far better player in Cano $160 million? While I do believe the Yankees offer for Cano is fair considering the next best 2B in the game is Pedroia and he signed a 7/$100M extension.

Yankees blew it. They're going to lose Cano and Ells will not fill his shoes offensively. If the Yanks get 3 good years from Ellsbury, I'll be amazed. They're best hope is that he is consistently able to drop hits into the short RF porch.

Maybe they won't lose Cano. Mariners talks fell apart.

EDIT: Or not.... Mariners sign Cano to a 10 year $240 million deal. I say good riddance. He is not worth that contract. The Yankees didn't need to make another ARod mistake.....

I completely agree with you. Cano is good, but 10 years $240 million good? Wish you the best, Cano, see ya later.

Remember when Pujols was praised as one of the greatest players in MLB, and what happened to him after moving onto the Angels?

Cano might be exceptional for a few years, but if the M's honestly think he will be anywhere near the same level in his late 30's and into his 40's, they must be out of their minds.

Yanks sign Carlos Beltran to 3 year deal! Definitely a good replacement for Granderson. Most importantly, he is CLUTCH in postseason, .333 BA, 16 HR, 40 RBI in 51 games.

As for 2nd base, we gotta go cheap and just sign an above-average defensive player, or use what we have.

Need money to improve pitching. Offense will easily be best in MLB if everyone can stay healthy.

Pitching...not so much. Best case scenario, seems like we have 4 expected starters: Sabathia, Kuroda, Nova, and most likely, Pineda.

That's true though, can't argue against that.

It's true for every player, not just these two.

Die hard Yankee fan here. I'm concerned that they paid all this money to a guy who has never thrown a pitched in the majors.
