Not sure how they'd 'save a few thousand on taxes.' You have to pay sales tax on the $45k when you transfer the title.

According to the OP, the MSRP was (lets say) $49.5k. We all know that no one in their right mind pays MSRP on the e90 for past 8 months or so. I know cases where people paid very close to the Invoice on e90 (335). So, $45k is way overpriced...

As for taxes, I am not sure where people got the idea of avoiding them by buying from provate party. Not true at all -- you pay the tax on the sale amount when transfering title. You could put a wrong number on the sale contract, but I doubt anyone would believe you got it for $30k...

It is even $2k over KBB Excellent Private Party value...
