Anyone used Schaeffer motor oil in their car?

I heard some good review about this oil but could not find any feedback from BMW owners. Anyone has any experience with this oil?

Is it on BMW's approved list of oils?

And does it cost less than the OEM BMW 5w30?

Thanks for this post. I looked into Schaeffers website. It looks like they cater primarily to the freight-trucking industry. They have a million-mile club. A qoute from one of the members:

"Gus Hackler Trucking, Meridian, ID

In 1985, in Meridian, ID, Gus Hackler Trucking had the first Cummins engine to turn a million miles without a major overhaul. By the time he retired, Gus Hackler had a second Certified Million Mile Engine and had nearly achieved a third, at just under 900,000 miles - all on 24,000-mile oil drain intervals."

And you guys worry about 15,000 OCI's.

It is a boutique oil. It is family run business and they spend no $$$ on marketing. Which is why nobody has heard of it. They market through their salesman and mainly target independent mechanics. If your indy drinks the koolaid, they may offer it. Is it any better than any other boutique oil ie. amsoil, redline etc....maybe, but probably not.

It is generally well regarded from what I have read.

I believe that if you stick with BMW 5w30, M1 0w30 or GC 0w30, you are fine. The most important thing is to, at a minimum, cut your OCI in half. BMW 5w30, at CCA discount, is hard to beat and a good value.

Thanks for your answers. I was thinking of getting M1 0w30, so I guess I'll just go with that.

Apples and oranges. The diesel power unit being described has a different filtration system than what we do in our cars. Check out Full flow/By-pass oil filtration systems - Fleet owners would not be able to achieve extended drain intervals using the basic system we have in our BMWs.

I prefer Ma Gustafson's vegetable oil. She makes it out of her house so there's no overhead. This allows her to focus on making superior veggie oil rather than all that marketing hype Castrol and others have.

No trolling intended, just enjoy a good story everytime a new oil is thrown out there.

Considering the stress the oil goes through in that type of diesel power unit, a dual filtration system is required.
