N55 secondary cats?
I was reading a thread about catless dps for N55 some one said good luck passing emissions testing because N55 has no secondary cats. To me this sounds wrong but is it true? Does N55 not have secondary cats?

N55's have a two stage cat on the down pipe... what I mean is, it's two cats, built into one system... There are no 2nd cats like what you would see on a N54 system... ALthough if you have an N55 335xi it seems like you have some resonators (that look awfully like cats)

I've heard of people gutting the whole thing, which works decently but leads to turbulence in the stock pipe's geometry. Haven't heard of half gutting. Honestly, there are such cheap options available now you might as well pick up one of those and save the stock pipe if you need to go back. Besides, you can't fool your nose if your car smells like a go cart. Hollowing out the stock pipe is really just for trying to go stealth or reeealy cheap
