Nice car, but it seems a little over priced compared to what I've seen in bmwusa.com. I have an '08 and would be interested in moving to a 2010. One thing that is strange is your Nov 14 CPO/maint end date. If this was an '09 purchase for a 2010 MY car... shouldn't the 6 year warranty bring the car into Nov 2015???

The original owner leased it in Oct 2009 and turned it in on Oct 2012 with 49k miles. Meaning the original warranty expired by the time I made it home. The CPO 2 year clock started ticking the day I bought it in Nov '12, at least I thought it did... I'll call BMW USA tomorrow to see if I am mistaken.

1) Original in service date will be the date the 1st owner is registered in the system (This will show in the BMW Service DAVIS report). 2) Original warranty is for 4 years OR 50,000 miles from the in service date (meaning if you bought your car on Oct 29th, 2009 with 22 miles on the clock... then your factory warranty will end on Oct 29th, 2013 (4 years) OR 50,022 miles (50,000 miles). 3) CPO warranty kicks in instantly as soon as the factory warranty expires, it covers from the original in service date to 6 years/100,000 miles, which if we follow the same example in #2 above would mean: Oct 29th, 2015 (6 years) OR 100,022 miles Use case 1 (Time Based): 1) If you drove 6,000 miles/year then your original factory warranty will expire in 48 months = Oct 29th, 2013 @ 24,022 miles on the clock 2) If you have CPO then it would kick in on Oct 30th, 2013 and last until Oct 29th, 2015 @ 38,022 miles. On Oct 30th, 2015 you would have no warranty. Use case 2 (Mileage Based): 1) If you drove 24,000 miles/year then your original factory warranty will expire in 25 months = Nov 29th, 2011 @ 50,023 miles (which is less than Oct 29th, 2013) 2) If you had CPO then on Nov 29th, 2011 when you reached 50,023 miles your CPO would kick in for another 25 months till on Dec 29th, 2013 and 100,023 miles are reached. At mileage 100,023 you are out of warranty. * Once a car has been CPO'ed, it can't be CPO'ed again (because CPO is just a warranty, doesn't make sense to sell you something you already have). * CPO will stay with the vehicle regardless of how many times the vehicle changes hands/owners. Because the vehicle warranty is time/mileage based... you can't lose it until the time/mileage is up. When you speak to your dealership service guy, let him know you are planning to sell the car and you would like the FULL DAVIS report which should be about 6+ pages long. It will have on the first page the following info: 1) MSRP of the car when new 2) All the options/features the car was configured with 3) In service dates and expiration dates for Factory warranty/CPO/Maintenance Plan/BMW assist/Extended warrenties Page 2-3 should begin/contain: 1) Your service history Page 4-ish to Nth page: 1) Should contain all the key read details a) Battery voltage b) Oil change counter c) coolant temps d) front brake pad count e) rear brake pad count f) etc... Pretty much with the last seven of your VIN, anyone with a good service adviser at a BMW dealership can look up all the details for your car. Last edited by fazman; 07-22-2013 at 01:21 AM.. |

Oh I forgot to ask, does your tinted windows have any vertical scratches on the inside? A common issue with the e90's if you don't install mole skin/tint protector (http://www.tintprotector.com/bmw/index.htm) is the scratches... i learned the hard way.
Which kind of tint did you install? Was tint protector installed or did they just cut off the inner weather strip so it doesn't touch the glass? |

The tint is 3M brand which I paid the dealer to install. There are no vertical scratches anywhere on any of the windows.
