USB Thumb Drive Stick problems
Hello,
So I thought it was my faulty usb drive. I bought a brand new one and as I listen to music, music stops, then it kicks me out of the menu on the idrive. I have to unplug and plug in the usb drive to get it working again. It happens randomly with songs. Any thoughts? Thanks! |

There are some USB sticks that won't even work.
I went through a couple before I got one that worked reliably. The USB controllers in the sticks are not all equal. |

I need technical information on this. What controller is the most compatible? What sizes? What file system?
Thanks! Will this work better? http://www.shopbmwusa.com/ProductDet...ProductId=3712 |

Patriot AXLE drives don't work.
Patriot SuperSonic Xpress 32GB USB 3.0 drives *DO* work. I don't know what other drives work but these two I've tested and I have one of the Xpress drives in my car now. I've also had good luck with 32GB microSD with an adapter. |

I might add that I have a 16gb and 64gb USB stick and the 16 is the preferred size for me (Both are the cheapo brand 'Team - Colour Turn'). It just takes the car way too long to 'read' the 64 that in a short 20 minute drive, it still hadn't completed. At least with the 16 it only takes around 5 minutes.
I should note that further investigation is required to determine why the 64 takes so long to read, they are both the same brand so shouldn't be hardware related. Also - if you want playlists, I use 'oddgravity' Playlist Creator ver 3.6. Its free and works a charm. Just save as m3u file in a folder called 'Playlists' and it works. |

The only piece of advice I have is make sure your file structure is reasonable (so not like...1000 MP3's in a single folder, that'll just piss the car off) and that the drive is formatted in FAT32. |

I have a 16GB Sandisk Cruzer(?). My problem is that my radio doesnt seem to see all of the albums that i have in the disk... is there a limit to how much mp3 metadata the radio can read and store? when i browse via folder, i can see the albums (i have my albums separated into folders), but i dont like playing it that way since it plays tracks alphabetically and not by the track sequence.
I dont have i-drive, i dont know if that makes a difference at all.

I've tried a few different USB sticks, as well as my Galaxy S3 (both USB and AUX) and get nothing. My phone won't even charge off the USB cable. Am I correct in assuming this is some kind of wiring/electrical issue. This is with a non-iDrive '07 e92 btw
