Yeah I think Turner Motorsports thought of using them on their e90 race car but ended up sticking to stock.

I've also read somewhere on one of these forums that for a 6spd 330i swapping out the rear end (diff) for a 330i automatic will make the car quicker.

Comments?

+1 on the diff. Gears are waaaaay to tall on the manual N52s. There is no need for 3rd to go 100mph. 3rd on the autos go to 85mph. 6th gear @ 65 will be almost 3000rpm though.

It shouldn't be that bad. The autos don't get bad gas mileage. Anything that makes your car go fast usually causes it to use more fuel. Any if your car is faster you're gonna be on the gas pedal more often.

what about racing DP's will that yield better results like the 335 does, its the one part that i never payed any attention to. i personally dont think it would help as much as it does for them because of NA engines needing back pressure, but just wanted to learn something new

Yeah I'm interested. Pulleys are always a great simple upgrade.

Also as said loose weight!

Wheels, seats, battery, body panels, whatever you can get rid of do it.

Also I agree with the 1/4 tank idea, thats what I do simply because less weight equals more MPG... and there is a gas station on every corner of America so why not...

I believe the E90 M3 underdrive pulley works as the diameter, belt groves is identical to the N52 motor. Less weight on the pulley and flywheel should be beneficial as there is less parasitic drag and frees up more power where it's needed.

I think Turner Motorsports and Vivid Racing sells this.

If anyone does this, please update us all.

Thanks.

Lighter weight wheels and tires (non-rft) makes a big difference. The OEM wheels are notoriously heavy, you can save 10+ lbs per corner. They say that saving 1 lb of unsprung = 10 of sprung, therefore 40 lbs of unsprung = 400 of sprung, that's a lot of weight "loss".

I have no idea if they are identical to the N52; I'd say no, but I don't know.
