European Delivery and then to Austria
Rolf picked us up at the airport with a 7 series that he was going to use in the afternoon to pick up some execs from South Africa. Brought us to our Munich Hotel, The Herzog Wilhelm, small but comfortable with on the street parking near the center of the city. Next day Rolf picked us up again and we picked up our 328i Coupe, Barbera Red, and headed to Austria. Stayed in Salzburg two days at
a bed and breakfast (the goats and deer wake you up) and saw the land of the Sound of Music. Next we headed on the Autobahn 8 and 1 on the way to Vienna. Stopped at Melk and Krems. Need to see the Melk Abbey. It is opulent and unbelieveable. Krems is a small town and reminds you of all the villages that once existed in Austria. In Vienna we stayed at the Hotel Mercure, Westbahnhof, which had underground parking for our new car. Vienna is a city you must see once in your life. Saw the Spanish Riding School, stallions, mares, and fowls, Andre Rineu concert, Schonenberg Palace (1250 rooms-who cleans this place), Hofburg Palace, Belvedere Palace, St. Stephens Church, The Opera. (You get the picture). After 4 magnificent days in Vienna we drove back to Munich in 4 hours over the autobahn (not more than 4500 rpms) and returned the car to Thomas at Harms. Three days later the car is on the high seas (The Patriot) and will be landing in 2 1/2 weeks in Bayonne, N.J. |
