If buying a new Merc the ONLY way seems to be on lease, they have some mega crazy low monthly rates. Means it is probably much cheaper to lease than buy on PCP etc and the big worry with buying is residual value which is bound to take a big hit because of massive discounts given to Contract Hire Companies and also in a few years there will be glut of used Mercs on the used market due to the numbers going out now on lease deals.

I doubt it will be new especially as B class has currently 5-6 months waiting list. The one we drove today has 5k on it and apart from two wheels that need refurbish its perfect. Only option missing I would have liked is rear amreset to give kids a drinks holder but can live without this.

Let the haggle begin

I've decided to wait at least a year at which time I will be close to voluntary termination. The best bid I've had is £11k with £17k owed on the finance. I think it would be suicide for me to do anything else other than VT it in a year or so.

Thats fine Stevie .

But if your wife is like mine and wants a change it is going to happen and sooner than you think.

The wheels are the Factory ?

If you change your mind let me know.

It's a cooper with this:

The wheels are 18" JCW R113, brand new and only fitted on Monday.

Car has 9k on it, chilli pack, media pack, piano black trim, full bluetooth with armrest, folding mirrors, black mirror caps, tlc, USB interface, first aid kit, warning triangle, white indicator lenses, rear PDC, chrome pack interior and exterior, run flat tyres, wind deflector and open top meter, heated seats.

That is a top spec Stevie, I would look at values again in the late spring, you might find they will bounce a little, but probably not enough. Car looks great. My wife's Cooper Auto only has 15000 miles on it after 3 years, it seems a shame that it will end up at auction, a really well looked after car and a decent spec but just a victim of optimistic future valuation.

I have been looking a Audi A1s today, not in the flesh just online, they seem to have taken off as a decent Mini alternative with a much nicer interior and a bit cheaper. I have a few feelers out...

I mat revisit the position in the spring when a vert may be more inviting and I have paid a few more instalments but I fear it won't improve by much.

The question is, should I take the pill now?

What do you think.

Steve
A Merc residuals certainly won't perform better than a mini.
I lost 17k in depreciation in 18 months on a new E class.
