Costco Tire Damaged My Rims
Had Costco change my tires and they left notches on the rim of all 4 wheels and scratches and dents on the inside of the lip. They made me file a claims report. Anyone have any experience with dealing with Costco Tire on trying to get them to pay for damages?
Also, how much does it cost to resurface rims? On top of it all, they took my stainless steel valve caps and gave me those stupid green (nitrogen) ones. I asked for them back and they gave me the cheap plastic chrome ones. Here's a typical notch on the rim. There are about 3~4 of these per wheel. A couple of the many scratches One of the dents on the inside of the lip And another

I dealt with wal mart. They first told me 70 bucks for on wheel they messed up. I told them no way its 140 at this shop I WANT TO go to and they said okay. They gave me a check and it was nice and easy.
Dents on the inside of the lip? Any pictures. |

Why not? Costco isn't ghetto or anything. Its just wheels/tires...Its not like hes getting something big done.
BMW has messed up my wheels before as well. BMW has dropped my cousins brand new E90 back in 06 off the truck. totaled.. Things happen. Have you wondered why businesses have insurance....Shit happens. That is unfortunate that happened and I hope everything works out. |

That's sucks. They might be good with prices. But I wouldn't trust them or most other general tire stores for that matter.

I will only take my Morr's to shops with touchless machines which just happens to be a discount tire by my house with a franchise owner that is a car enthusiast. Look into touchless machines next time.

I've been to costco one time before with my previous car and they never damaged the rims, granted they were OEM 17", not after market 19". I went to a firestone last time and they didn't leave one mark on the wheel, so I thought it wouldn't be that tough not to.
Hopefully whenever the claims department gets back to me, they will be reasonable to work with. Anyone have any idea how much it would cost to repair?

If you want it done right, take it to the local indy shop. Having the flunky at a warehouse store... you sorta brought it upon yourself. Why would they be careful?
At minimum, you need to take pictures at drop off because most tire shops will tell you there is no way their machines could do that. Trust me, I have learned my lesson. I take winter wheels or beat up stocker to Discount Tire or Walmart. I take wheels that I care about to my local indy shop (and pay and arm and a leg to ensure they don't get damaged).

They should be careful cause it's their job. I know Costco pays their workers in the warehouse better than supermarkets. I assumed they should have better trained employees.
Like I said, I've been there before and they didn't scratch the rims. Will be going to Indy shops from now on though. I've read some reviews online about people with the same issue and Costco has been reasonable (since we are all paying members). Let's hope they are the same this time around.

Well, Costco claims department payed for the wheel repair as well as the rental car. They were pretty easy to deal with, although their official stance is they are denying they caused the damage, but can't prove they didn't do it . Wish they would just take responsiblity and at the very least train their guys better, but whatever, I'm never going back there again.
On the plus side, if you have curb rash and want it repaired for free, take it to costco and they'll mess up your wheels and pay for repairs
