Our cars will probably die before we get our airbags replaced.

BMW has 1.8 Million cars with the recalled parts. They had their first deadline to retrofit higher risk cars, changed from March 2016 to end of August 2016...100,000 cars had to be extended. So if it took them from November 2015 to end-August 2016 to do the first 100,000 take a guess when car #1,800,000 gets its retrofit!

I live in FL (Tampa) a first priority zone and still waiting for my 2010. Oh well. I'm still driving it.
My 2005 Stang GT was done back in June and now I got another recall letter that the passenger side also needs to be replaced. Who knows when that will happen.

Wow. Talk about a freak accident (for the woman). This just goes to show that sometimes there's really nothing you can do if it's your time to go.
That woman was just sitting in her house, and a day later she was just a pile of teeth.

2007, had a rental for over 110 days. They did the airbag 2 weeks ago. Also did my cousin's 08 same week. Both cars are in a low priority region. Common denominator = rentals

Was it done with one of the redesigned airbags, or with an old, new stock airbag? I believe they were replacing the airbags of high risk cars with old, new stock before the redesigned parts are available because a newer airbag even with the older design was less at risk for rupture than one that has been on the road for 8+ years.

Called the dealer and they just said the parts weren't in, nothing else was said.

I read about that chick, who had her spine severed from metal shrapnel, when her airbag went off. Just crazy.

The SA is a clueless j******, so I can't say. But my car no longer has any recall campaigns on the BMW website. Does the p/n indicate anything? Let me pull out the paperwork.

This is the recall on my paperwork, and the paperwork states final parts would begin 8/16, and that rentals are not offered to folks who get interim parts (as early as March)....

http://www.bmwusa.com/Standard/Recal...Number=16V-071
The part on my invoice ends in 328 and matches this document, so I believe it's permanent

Hmm, looks like the 328 part number has been in use since start of production, and ends 05/2016 according to realoem. Then a new part number for 05/2016 and up ends in 654. Not really sure what that means....

Tried to trade in my 335i for a 4Runner and the toyota dealer said they could not buy my BMW until the recall was complete as they can not legally sell it with an active recall order out. Anyone had any issues with this? Any ideas?

I dont know about different dealerships but i traded my e90 for a new f22 and it had the recall, now it is up for sale on the dealers website. Maybe bmw performs the recall if it is one of their own?

Funny enough i just checked the carfax and it still shows up as 1 open recall, im pretty sure that legal to sell issue is bullshit. If bmw can do it other dealers can sell it without any problem.

http://www.fieldsbmworlando.com/used...6c5133a4f9.htm If anyone wants to take a look and ask them about it.

I thought BMW elected to suspend sales of recalled cars, and that Audi, MB, etc., they did not. Maybe this Toyota dealer just doesn't want the hassle.
