Hi guys, newb on here!

Recently picked up my e90 m sport bus edition with the cic nav etc.

So far have re mapped, fitted mv4's and cree angel eye bulbs and cars all the better for it!!

When i first picked the car up, i had the split screen set so the left hand portion was nav, cd, phone etc, and the right hand side of the split screen was the on boiard computer with mpg etc.

Some how i have changed it to a mini map on the right, and the full map on left, and i cannot for the life of me change it back!!

Any ideas peeps, i know this is going to be a simple one, but ive lost my patience with it now!!

Also, to save openeing another thread, is thare any way of updating the firmware / spoftware fopr tyhe idrive system itself??

I see some cic has text message functionality but i cannot for the life of me get it to work with my samsung galaxy note 3. i cant even see the option for it.

Keep pushing the controller to the right until the split screen options are shown. Or use the voice control and say "split screen".

Text message etc is only for cars with Office which I think was 2011 onwards....

I have a late 2010 with Office so maybe it's only cars with ComBox?

To get messages I had to do something on the BMW Connected Drive website but can't say I find it all that useful, particularly as I have my SGS3 mounted the right the column.

Messages gives a choice of All / System / SMS but it always defaults to ALL, so my route messages always get lost in all the dross that arrives by txt. The end of long messages don't arrive & there doesn't seem to any way to send a message, all things considered I'm thinking about removing the facility as it's a pita

Switch the split screen function on, then move the iDrive control knob to the right again, this should then give you the option to choose what you want to display in the right hand side of the screen eg journey computer, arrow view, map etc.

Mine now shows a menu with a first line of "<tick> Split screen" and below that a list of possible displays. I can scroll down and pick an option.

If yours doesn't do this then you could take it to a dealer where a helpful mechanic or salesman will accompany you to your car and show you how to do it. It will be condescending and humiliating but you will get to experience being a woman for a while without having to dress up .

Had exactly the same problem. Finally managed to get it back how I wanted this afternoon, such a relief.
