2. I did some research and apparently the models with 2 USB ports cannot play PS2 games. Somebody correct me if I am wrong.

Correct. Only the original 20 & 40 gb models are backwards compatible, they have 4 USB ports and a flip up door with 2 magic gates.

the 60gb is the only true completely backward compatible one
