Paddle Shifting Causes Premature Transmission Wear?
My indie mechanic informed me that using the paddle shifters wears out the transmission twice as fast as using it in plain 'ole automatic mode. Really?

Im gonna have to say no. In auto mode the clutches in the transmission slip a lot more to create comfortable shifts. In manual mode or with the paddles, shift are more quick and direct.

Mechanic is an idiot. Time to find a new one. It's the same wear/friction to the transmission, the same electrical signal from the computer.

The transmission is electronically controlled, you are not going to wear it out sooner with shifters. |

Maybe if you were doing a lot of downshifting and the car didn't have the rev-matching then yes might be some additional wear.

Dont use your turn signals and DO NOT use windshield washer unless absolutely necessary. Can you imagine being out on a slushy night and it fails due to over use..............

Wish the engine management system would blip the throttle when downshifting. |

Downshifting will wear the transmission twice as fast. The clutches have to slip twice as much.

don't drive your car, it will wear everything out
to balance wear, drive same distance in forward and reverse, and make the same number of right and left turns.

Do NOT wash your car, you WILL leave tiny swerve marks even if you use a microfiber towel.

Automatics have multiple clutch plates which the stall convert engages upon acceleration. The harder you push the car the faster you will wear it out!
