Talking Just Bought An e93 335i! Pics & Mod Suggestions Inside!

Hey folks,

I picked up my first bimmer last week and am absolutely loving it so far!

It's a 2008 e93 335i AT w/Sport Package in Monaco Blue with Saddle Brown leather and brushed aluminum trim.

I haven't performed any mods yet but am wondering what you guys suggest to start off with as far as the exterior goes.

I've been doing some research and want to start with the front end but am not sure what is compatible with the stock bumper since I don't want to replace it just yet unless it's a no-brainer.

Also, can anyone point me in the direction of LCI paddles along with the harness to get them working with a non-LCI e93?

To start things off here's what I'm thinking for the exterior:

- Matte black kidney grilles
- Matte black bumper mesh
- Matte black cabin trim
- Color-matched side reflectors.
- LED white side indicators
- LED license plate lights
- Color-matched plate frames.
- Upgraded angel eyes (suggestions?)
- Upgraded fog lights (suggestions?)
- Front splitters in carbon fiber(suggestions?)
- Rear lip spoiler in carbon fiber (suggestions?)
- Mirror caps in carbon fiber (suggestions?)
- Rear diffusor in carbon fiber (compatible with stock bumper?)
- 19" rims (suggestions?)

Thanks everyone, I looked for 2 months before I found a color combination that I really like. The saddle brown really looks nice in person.

Question: I've noticed that a lot of mod sites list parts for the e92 with no mention of the e93. What's the compatibility of parts between the two?

ok, here are my two cents:

wheels - satin or silver type
drop -- number of options out there
oem front lip or msport front bumper

you listed lots of black stuff, like grills, carbon fiber lip spoiler, etc... imho, blue and black just doesn't work... so i wouldn't do that. also, it really bothers me when people start modding the car, saving the wheels for last. imo, wheels should be the first thing you do. coming down to the wheels, it can make or break the car, and if you don't have something that works, it doesn't matter how hard, you simply can't polish a turd.

compatibility for the e92/e93 pretty much stops at the trunk. anything else should fit just fine, even though it's listed for the e92.

just to get you started...

Thanks for the suggestions mattyjman.

I agree with much of what you noted and with the e93 it's even harder to go with black details unless you tackle the gobs of chrome around the top first.

Am going to look around for rims. Any good shops in Toronto or online with free/cheap shipping?

that color car looks great with the chrome/silver trimming and details IMO.. definitely leave it... blacking everything out isnt for everyone and is not a must nor does it always look better. especially over that sexy saddle leather.. not saying its necessarily a BAD idea but then youll likely end up blacking like everything out... its a lot.

ill give you MY personal first to do mods for you including both performance and aesthetics since you have asked.

1st performance mods-
1) tune the car. there are MANY options. you could find yourself confused on which one to go with as many new people do with this platform. ill narrow it down to your TOP three choices. vishnu procede, BMS jb4 (both of these are piggy backs, in other words you open up your ECU and plug in the actual harnesses of the tuner component into your ECU), or COBB AP tune which is a total ECU reflash. You can install any of the above yourself, and it is EASY so no worries, just follow directions. Yes you can remove all of these if youre under warranty and worried about that when visiting dealer. My local dealer could care less....

2) DCI. dual cone intakes from either vishnu ($150), or BMS ($99). either or works perfectly fine, the vishnu cones are a TAD bigger. either works. if you DO tune the car you dont want your little turbos bustin their asses to feed air through the restrictive stock intake box. if you DONT tune your car than nvm any of this, stock intake is best and efficient,

3) Upgrade the intercooler. most popular are Helix, ETS, AMS etc etc there are many, i personally have the helix FMIC. it really lets the car flow better and breath in hot weather. worth it..

Those are top 3 for perf. to start with.

LOOKS.
1) you said something about the front end, so i prefer the look of the OEM aero lip. makes the car look very aggressive, fits perfectly, and is a subtle but sexy touch.. here is a pic of mine.. really all you need to make your front end look stellar IMO.
