My DSC ABS Hydro Pump Issues

-------------------------------------------------------------

Model: 325i N52N Engine, right hand drive
Country: India
Automatic transmission (yes/no): Yes
I-Drive (yes/no): No
Active Steering (yes/no): IDK
Comfort Access (yes/no): Yes

Problem description:

-------------------------------------------------------------
I moved from the US to India last September and by the end of October bought a used 09/2007 manufactured E90 with N52N type engine. I bought it directly from the dealer here thinking its best to deal with the dealer rather than the second hand car market since there is no way of tracking the history of a car here. No CarFax here.

The care had about 20,000 kms on it, it felt great, looked clean, had no issues on the exterior either. It also did not come with a warranty, or was certified pre-owned.

Anyway in about 6 months, and 3000 kms down the road, I got the DSC, ABS lights. The car flashed messages of not being able to detect the flat tire monitor either. I took it to the dealer and they diagnosed it as Hydro Pump failure and were charging me $2000 for the part plus labor. I convinced them to just charge me labor as long as I can get the part myself.

I managed to get a part on eBay from a seller who said it was in working condition and the seller gave 90 day warranty on it. The dealer installed the pump and programmed it to my car. 4 days later the lights are all back on again. The dealer said the pump was fine and had it been faulty they would known at the time of installation. Now I am perplexed what it could be?

Any ideas?

If you are getting DSC and ABS lights on yellow with the yellow triangle, yellow low pressure tire light, you likely have a problem with the SZL. It is a common problem that the SZL goes out (otherwise known as steering angle sensor). Its about a 800 dollar job including parts last time someone quoted me.

Hi I am hoping you can help me. I have a 2007 335i and have had for over 100,000 miles. Over the last 6 months I get this annoying slight squeaky noise I think coming from the back brakes, drivers side. When I'm in traffic and let off the brake it squeals until about 20 miles an hour, and then disappears. Sometimes when are is cold you don't hear it for a bit thereafter. My mechanic is clueless and some of the other theads mentioned the dealers may to know. It's making my bmw experience feel very ghetto. Maybe you can help or steer me in right direction?
Thanks so much.

Thanks Al, I tried that on my drivers side rear over the summer, however I recently feel it's coming from drivers side front. Today I couldn't take it Andre and sprayed a little tire foam in the and around the caliper ( tire stayed on). It took the squeak away. Let's see if it lasts, if not it has to be caliper related. Brake pads have plenty of life same as rotors. Have you had this problem?

E90 2014 328i Brakes underpowered, no hydraulic power, ABS led to collision

Anyone have a similar experience or see posts like this? 328i brake power failure - outside of recall dates. Seek advice on next steps.

New 2014 328i <1500 miles, automatic. Brakes/ABS defective - car untrustworthy. N26B20O0 Engine.

Recently on a decline at a stop light in urban area, I slowed for a red and nearly stopped <10mph car 2 car lengths from next vehicle. Plenty of space and nearly stopped. Then the ABS engaged and brakes lost power (though steering available.) Car was on street facing downhill, light/moderate rain. ABS near stop started pulsing. With brakes fully depressed (and gravity at work because ABS engaged) car moved went from nearly stopped to increasing speed. Brakes underpowered: steering available but no ability to brake. Car rolled until collision with vehicle ahead <10mph. My bumper compressed, big bus ahead fine. While moderate rain, drainage clear, not excessive water on road, speeds slow and seemingly adequate traction.

Seek advice on next steps: go to dealer or speak to BMWNA? (San Francisco Bay Area: Peter Pan, SF, or Weatherford?)

Car produced end March 2014 from Munich. Massive 76,000 car recall for hydraulic brakes only though 2013. Called roadside and local dealers: they claim to have never seen a brake issue like this. What would you do next? I can see an indy highly recommended - but in my tests can't recreate situation. Is this a warranty issue? Dealers shrugging it off.

There is no E90 made in 2014. The last production is 2013.

Problem description:
At around 120k miles, suspension noise clunking when turning the steering wheel left and right. Strut mounts likely need replacing. This is kind of regularly expected for any car over 100k miles on original parts, right?

E92 scrap after 87k miles

I used to have a E31 525 and an E46 330. Both very very reliable.
Bought a 2007 E92 320i 2 years ago in the UK. 80k miles. Full service history.

However, nothing but problems.
Fuel injectors replaced.
Coils replaced.
Cam cover gasket replaced.
Differential wined and was replaced.
£2000 spent.

Then 2 weeks after a service, the crankshaft broke. £3000 to replace engine.
Car only worth £4000 before engine broke. So SCRAP aftwer just 87k miles.

Will never buy another modern BMW again. I've heard lots of other woes.
Bring back the quality and reliability of the past. BMW will learn in a few years that using cheaper parts only pays dealers in the short term. Long term, word will get around.....

Bye
Andy

My brother-in-law's VANOS broke on his 2011 e90 at 47k miles, metal fragments in engine (N55). Won't start. It's at the dealership now, may need a new engine... Outcome is unknown at this time.
