Best method for 3rd gear pull in AT car
I was planning on making some 3rd gear data logged runs in my N55 335i with Procede. I put my AT in M3...about 3k RPM and floored it. It downshifted to 2nd! LOL. I ended up starting a bit higher and rolling the throttle on quickly then going WOT to keep it in 3rd.
Everyone do something similar? I cannot think of any other way to keep it in 3rd. |

I keep it at 3.5k rpm in 3rd manual mode. Just make sure you don't push the throttle too far down to hit the kickdown. Mine works fine and struggles a little bit if it's too low and won't downshift.

^^ but does that show max boost in the log? I do the A/T manual mode in 3rd gear around 2K RPM and then floor it until 7K, stop logging. I never thought it would downshift... A/T sucks.
