IMHO....the Michelin Pilot Sport runflats on my LCI 320d Sport, even with 18" wheels, ride really well. I don't feel the ride is overly harsh except with particularly bad potholes (then you really feel it ;-) )

I moved from a VE HSV with 19" rims and regular tyres to the 320d and the ride is substantially smoother and more refined. It's also better than I recall my Audis ever being (even on 17s)

We keep hearing that runflat technology is improving, but I would be interested to drive the same car with ordinary tyres.

We have 18"s on the 320 wagon and that rides a lot better than the 19"s on the convertible. The convertible is the only car that I have ever bought that I feel has too harsh a ride.
I thought that I was getting old, but it is seriously bad.
I will be installing some coil-overs at some stage and may just ditch the runflats. Runflats also don't have the grip required when you run the ProCede Stage 3
I had 19"s on my E46 convertible and even though it was lowered on sports springs, it still felt better (not much although) than the new 335 convertible.

Two days on the NEW NON RFT's and I am a happy convert...softer ride (Normal like my old 330Ci) no more tram lining, potholes almost seem like a non-event

None of the harsh ride and banging…as someone remarked this am in my car…”seems like a whole new car”
Tyres are about 35% cheaper and best of all can be repaired.

I just fitted Pirelli P Zeros, RFT. Much quieter than the Bridgestones. Very happy with them I shopped till I dropped and Tyrezone Cleveland or Capalaba have the best deal. They have the special gear for fitting them as well.

After many weeks AP (analysis paralysis) I finally got the Conti S3. I have not tried any other tyres and they are the first tyres since the run craps so I can not comment on longevity, however, I will never ever, ever have run flats again. In fact, if I purchase a new BM I will change the tyres on purchase. The change in grip, ride and road noise is almost too great to believe. Thanks to all the have posted

Stop being such a little girl about it. It's your own damn fault for not either buying the tire warranty for a couple hundred bucks or for buying some after market wheels or non RFT's upon puncturing the RFT. Work smarter not harder.

Dont be such an ingorant american.
In Aus there is no such thing as tyre warranty for a couple of hundred bucks.
No go back to your own section of the forum.

Actually .... BMW do offer it now. Well at least they did to me in August last year. I think it was about $500+ but I cant remember the details as I was not interested. I swapped over to my 19" wheels and non RFT within 2 days that I picked up the new car.

Thanks for your comments
When I bought the car in 2006 there was no such thing as car insurance...my general insurance does not even offer it.
Secondly having lived in Seattle/Dallas and Los Angeles for more than 8 years and having 2 BMW's there with tyre insurance I checked when back in Sydney...and it was unavailable.
Then again why should I pay $500 to insure something not suitable for the conditions, and you may pay $50K for this car we pay over $130K.
Last but not least...our roads suck compared to the US roads
Thanks

The mobility package is a puncture repair kit, it's sold with all M cars and is available for a couple of hundred at your local dealer. there is no spare.
If you replace your RFT's with non-RFT's and buy a puncture repair kit you will still have no spare & the mobility package does not repair large damage to tyres.

I don't bother with anything. If I'm going out of town though, I will usually take one of those high pressure tins of foam sealant which work. If the tyre get's damaged, I'll just have to get a tow and chances are if I get a flast at high speed, my rim will eat it too..

Sorry i just re-read the first page i was thinking of the space saver package.
Has anyone had to use the puncture repair kit ?? is it any good obviously it wont work in a major failure but for the ol' nail in the tyre scenario ?? Where i work all of our cars have puncture repair kits and no spare except for our 4WD

Rosso
235 x 35 x 19 Front
265 x 30 x 19 Rear

Staggered tyres do limit the choice Pirelli could not supply P Zero although a newer tyre
