I have some tired turbos and loose wastegates. I already did full bolt ons. MMP inlets, outlets, charge pipe, with a eBay BOV, intercooler upgrade and PCV delete with catch can. I also just rebuilt the motor so I did a little porting/polishing as well. I also have a JB4.

What I am thinking now is a slight turbo upgrade, saving some money by replacing the cartridges and welding new wastegate arms, etc. I see Vargas has a cartridge kit with slightly upgraded wheels. I have 2 questions:

1) Is it relatively easy to replace cartridges in my original housings and are they going to come balanced?
2) What cartridge set should I get for a little performance bump without having to replace my whole fuel system and loose driveability by adding lag, etc. I don't plan to race this car but want to maybe hit 500hp or so if I can do it reliably.

I wouldn't mess with the waste-gate & turbine wheel upgrade/ replacements, unless you have some really good welding skills. I know you can send your turbos out to be serviced.

If you have the turbos out, the repairs shouldn’t be that difficult provided you can weld and have the equipment available. Judging by all the work you already did on your motor you should have no issues.

Check out this video, they also have other videos on their channel to walk you Through the cartridge rebuild.

I can weld OK so that part doesn't scare me.
