Montreal to Portland roadtrip

Going to Portland ,ME tomorrow for the long week-end with the E36 vert,

The shortest suggested route in Google maps takes us trough White Mountain National forest via the 302
is this a nice route? how long to go trough the park?

Any must see in the region?
thanks for the help

Rt. 302 is a great road, you will definitely enjoy it. However, I would personally make it a point to drive the Kangamangus Highway (NH 112) which is actually very close to 302. The Kank is a shorter trip through the park itself, but it's an amazing road with excellent views and tons of fun twists through the mountains.

Here's a GMaps link to the general area: http://maps.google.com/maps?q=Kancam...,0.645447&z=11

The Kank is about 25 miles and probably takes an hour if you stop once or twice to admire the view. Rt. 302 is a longer road but still in the right direction and still definitely worth driving. I would take one on the way there, and the other on the way home.

She can handle it. It's not an ice road trucker style drive lol. Ver nice and enjoyable.

Yeah, it's definitely a tourist road, you don't have to rip through it. It's not like the Mt. Washington Auto Road at all - just a mountain road through the forest really. And with the holiday weekend, you will be moving at a slower pace anyway.

Thanks for the info guys,
Its not that she's scared but rather she gets car sick when there's too many turns

We did go to the Mt Washington Auto Road on Sunday ,she wanted to go up and take some pictures ( she's a professional photographer) , unfortunately we did not go up as it was raining and visibility on the summit was only 100 feet (not worth 35$)

funny thing is (for me not for her) going back from it the GPS made us take Dolly Copp rd back to route 2 which starts as nice paved road in the woods for maybe 1 mile then becomes a dirt road in the mountain
