Best budget upgrades for sound? no amp replacement - e92 hi-fi

I am not a audiofile, so even a marginal improvement over the stock sound i would be happy with. I also dont want to spend alot on audio as its not that important to me overall.

Are there any simple suggested upgrades that are fairly plug in play for the standard Hi Fi system on the e92 m3? e.g. pnp sub swap, front mid swaps?

(i did search, but most seems to talk about move involved options than what i am looking for.)

If your going to upgrade anything upgrade the amp first. Higher quality speakers will be less efficient so you'll need the extra power. The jl audio xd600/6 is commonly used to replace the hifi amp along with Technic's harness.

You can, but it won't be much of an improvement without an amp. The amp alone might be enough for you. You should upgrade that first and decide what you want to do from there.

The amp does make a big difference. I have the hi-fi system with the JL xd 600/6 and very happy with the sound. I would maybe next upgrade the subs then front mids/tweets and I would like the rear alone.

Get the XD600/6 from here. Its the cheapest I've found online. I purchased the XD700/5 from them and it was shipped out the next day. It came in and even showed up in the original box. It says refurbished on the site and that it comes in a brown box, but mine was in the original box and it looked Brand New... Encase your wondering why i went with the 700/5 its because I'm using the sub channel to power my new 10TW3 sub. I have a small 2ch amp powering my two earthquake underseat subs at 150rms each.

If you also want to replace your subs you can buy these SWS-8XI These subs will work good with the XD600/6 amplifier.

If you feel like the audio in your car sounds good to you already but you wish you had a little more thump then I'd suggest buying just the two earthquake subs and a 2 channel amplifier to run them. I ran the stock amp with just the subs (on a 2 channel amp and was content for 2 weeks and probably wouldn't have bothered to continue upgrading but my oem amp broke (only the rear sub channel) I also have a feeling it was probably already on its way out when i bought the car since i never even knew the car had oem subs. But if you do the JL audio XD600/6 amp make sure to buy a harness from technic.

Thank you. Excellent post.

Couple additional questions. Will stick speakers really sound better and be able to handle the new amp?

If not are there some mids you recommend that are relatively inexpensive?

Also any diys on the amp install?

I'm sure they can't handle the full 75 watts rms that they would get from the xd600/6, but I also doubt you would ever turn up the volume high enough to give them that much power. The stock amp is probably clipping at max volume which is the reason for the bad sound quality.
