when changing your seats....

when changing your front seats it does not matter if you use pre-lci or lci as all the seats will work across the years. However, I have learned that there are 2 criteria that DO matter when you are chaining seats.

The first may seem obvious but there was a lot of misinformation out there that led me to make this mistake initially. If you have an e90, you can ONLY use e90 seats. I bought M3 e92 seats for my e90 and they do not work. This is because the seatbelts on the coupe are mounted differently than on the sedan.

The second criteria has to do with the options on the seat. If your car came with non-heated seats, then you can swap non heated seats into your car from either an lci model or non lci model. It does not seem to matter. If you have heated seats you can swap heated seats in the same way. However, if you have non-heated and want to swap to heated seats, the passenger seat will not work unless you move the pins around in the seat connector. I learned this the hard way and had to pay BMW to figure it out and fix it. For some reason the drivers seat is unaffected by the heated/non-heated aspect of the seats.

My bolsters dont work right now either. Do you have a diagram of how to move the pins to power the bolsters?

I ended up having to tap in to the ground and 12v power and connecting the pin connectors and running the wires for the bolsters outside the connector. I did not feel like buying pins and putting it all inside the housing.

It is very hard to explain. I put up pictures on my post about my seats when I installed them. I am mobile right now, but search my posts.

E90 will work in an e92 as long as you don't mind using the electric motor to allow people in the back. I have sport seats for sale
