ipod in car FM transmitters

Anybody have experience of these ?

I need something to hook my wifes ipod up to her car, sadly it doesnt have a spare input on the stereo to wire in direct.

Have heard Griffin products are quite good ?

Regards

I've had a bad experience with the griffin fm transmitters. I currently use the monster ipod icar fm transmitter. The quality is great. Highly recommend it.

Damn, no cd changer option on this stereo?

Depending on the car.. I'd say rather than spending £40 on a damn fm transmitter you might as well spend £100 on a bottom of the range alpine head unit dude, with iPod functionality built in as well as mp3 feedback and blah. Also means changing track on the deck, not on an iPod in the console. Its not exactly safe to go rummaging through pod playlists whilst driving. Head unit atleast is in the same direction as the road is

never liked these fm thingers though.. I am definitely biased by horrible family arguments on a trip to germany 3 or 4 years ago Every damn 10mins someone else knows better how to retune the thing when we go into a new radio signal and all the music turns to fuzz... GRRRRR.

If she doesn't drive more than 10 miles from home then Griffins are fine. If you tune into a clear frequency at home by the time you have driven more than 10 miles it won't be 'free' anymore as the next town will have a station on that frequency.

Have a look at Dension products which plug into the ariel socket in the rear of the radio unit. It still tunes into a frequency but when its on it blocks all other frequencies interfering.

Do you not have an AUX input? That would be my choice if you don't have a USB input.

Hi All.

The issue we have is that the hi fi is a quirky OEM Renault 'Carbasse' unit which has DVD Nav etc etc plugged into it and its integral to the whole set up.

I'm told that the AUX input has the Nav plugged into it !

Wonder if its possible to split the AUX input somehow so I can get two jack plugs in ?

You can certainly buy phono banana plugs, assuming the AUX is just a jack, and not some kind of proprietary connection. Take a look at it.

Might be really wierd from a coding perspective though, IE how do you select your listening to AUX? Is there an option on the unit? If not - might have to do something stupid like enable a sat nav destination and mute the sat nav audio in order to actually get the AUX sound routed through.. heh...

Let me know if you want the number of a very good audio guy to offer advice on this

MEGA,

I think thats going to be the route actually. It needs to work in harmony with what weve got and no awkward operating issues.

Send you a PM ?
