In the cars, there is an added component. Instead of going from power -> LED, we now have Power -> LED Controller -> LED.

the LED controller is getting 12v from the car, and converting it to the correct power. If the controller gets less then 12v it does not operate correctly, and will either pulse or not turn on.

in the computer monitor, the LED's are always getting the correct voltage, , when you dim the screen it drops the voltage just slightly to get a different output.

Agree on most counts; it's not the LED per se, but the electronics controlling it. They're not like filament bulbs that can be dimmed just via voltage. Just a minor correction, in the dimmable LED the power controller always gets the right voltage, it just dials down the voltage/power at the LED properly.

I've already got a set, but still have hope that the fade feature will come at some later point.... Ya got any ideas how to achieve that?

Woohoo! Glad to hear you're going ahead with the h10w compatible version! Quick question, I have the LCI headlamps in my Pre-LCI car. Does that create a high probability of errors when you do get this working for the LCI halogens?

new vs old

hey marc:

so how did you change the design to even out the lights more? i have your new and newer e92 lux sets and do not see a big physical difference b/t the two on quick glance except for the lack of harness....haven't checked the light outputs yet to see if they are more even or not.

and yes..the aib's do dim when you lock/unlock the door. a nice feature...probably the only feature i miss about the aibs now that the lux's are plug and play. really big improvement to get rid of the harness!

whoa i'm retarded, when I was thinking "LED" i was only thinking in automotive terms... like blinkers and such which are used in an on/off and nothing in between kind of way. I wasn't even thinking about LED screens. derrrrr...

Hey Marc or anyone with E60 LCI,

Can you confirm the LUX H8 PnP work for E60 LCI ? There are conflicting blogs elsewhere suggesting it won't work.

Thanks

I have an E60 LCI M5.

I just tried the LUX H8 today. They do not FIT. They light up, but you can't get them in. I sent pictures of our housing to Marc and he confirmed that they won't fit.

Although the E92 and E60 LCI use the same H8 bulb, that's where the similarities end. The housing the the E60 LCI is much tighter and smaller than the E92.

Where did you hear the conflicting reports?

Looks like they forgot to pay their vendor fees.

You can purchase it from their website.
