I use studless winter tires in NE Ohio. My car is RWD, so without dedicated snow tires, I wouldn't be able to drive around.

I don't have any experience with those Michelin ones though.

My dad is getting Blizzaks put on his Acura TSX. It is FWD so we will see how it goes. Supposedly these are the best winter tires.

Looking to see opinions on on the Mich Pilot Alpin PA3 performance winter tires in these conditions.

I am hoping that the performance will be good enough instead of studdless.
No experience with the Michelin's, we run Bridgestone 225/40/18 & 255/35/18 Summer Performance staggered setup and Blizzaks 205/55/16 winter tires (studless) in a square setup. Superior handling in snow and ice. We run these on the wife's 325i RWD. It was recommended to run a narrow/square set-up tire (i.e. 55 series) versus a wider/staggered set up (i.e. 40/35 series) the narrower tend to cut thru snow better.

Check Tire Rack & Car and Driver, both have done comparisons of "winter tires"

I'd say no on an Audi, they deal exclusively with BMWs, and the only ones they sell are Ms

Anyone recommend an installer for winter tires on the east side of Cleveland?

Would be ordered from tirerack and installed on my current stock wheels(turning them into winters).

Looking for installers that take care in not scratching or marking your rims and with roadforce balancing.

So, last weekend I replaced my oil filter housing gaskets, flushed coolant, changed oil, and replaced my damaged OE FMIC with a VRSF part. Then yesterday on my drive to work my low coolant light came on. The damned water pump is leaking! I didn't tinker in that area AT ALL, but I find it hard to believe its coincidentally leaking less than 4 days after I get it back together. I can see a slooooow leak come from the top of the water pump and drip to the bottom. My only guess is that the brown plastic section of the housing has a hairline crack.

Interesting.... my water pump took a dump in July. Thankfully they replaced it under warranty, which was a big old win for this guy.

It doesn't look terribly hard, just expensive. $535 for the pump, thermostat, the hose that runs between them, a gallon of coolant, and some clamps. Tomkinson BMW had the best price on parts by a lot.

Which dealership did you take it to?

I went to Kelly BMW in Cbus. Even if my car has been less than reliable, they have been the best dealership I have ever dealt with to date. Granted it is still a stealership and I am still probably paying a premium, however, since it is still under warranty the prices are nothing to complain about, and the service is exceptional.

That's the dealership that flagged my car for having a tune that wasn't in there. They were nice, very nice actually, but weren't of much help nonetheless.

They can not get the Mich's I want and will not store my tires come summer unless I buy the ones they offer. They are off my list because of this, but still use them for all my service(I'm up in Beachwood, so its close).

How's this now? They 'flagged' it as tuned? What does that mean, that you were put on a 'blacklist?'

Ya I'd stay the hell away from Kelly BMW. They tried on 2 occasions to deny CPO work before I had even put a tune on.

^ it all depends on which person you talk to. There is a guy there named Jason.. stay far far away from him. Doesn't know what he is talking about and cost me $2k in repairs that should have been covered. Brandon is the one you want to talk to. Just had my water pump and thermostat replaced by them for well under cost. Feel free to PM me. But other than the water pump, i do have to say I've had negative experiences with them haha

Jason Mudd was the SA that was assigned to me. Seems he's e-infamous.

I was going to take my car to MAG for work, but my CPO had expired in the meantime. Figures.

Anyone ever done a waterpump/thermostat on their car? These "quick" disconnect couplers on the thermostat are real mother fuckers. I've got them unlatched, but the damned hoses won't come off!

Brandon is the gent I typically work with. The guy works an insane number of hours every week, however he is a home run when it comes to service. I have never in my life worked with someone in the car industry more professional and and willing to go the extra mile for the customer... ever...

Hey all,

This seems like a suitable enough thread to introduce myself. I'm Rocky and I'm addicted to cars. My current drug of choice is a 2007 335i Monaco Blue Sedan with Terra Dakota. I just bought the car and it's relatively stock. I've had quite a bit of vehicles in the past(everything from 03 Cobra, Z32 TT 300ZX, G35, Single Turbo Supra which I still have, and many many others) but my first car was an e30 325e. I missed everything about that car and when the E90 335s came out, I had to have one. Finally getting rid of all my big car payments I found this car in IL and I'm pleased to say, this car is the shit.

Here's a couple of pics so far.

Filthy when I picked it up.

Picture with my lady's Z33 350 after detail.

The day after I detailed it

Needless to say, it needs detailed again.

I'm from the Akron area and hopefully if there's some meets that fly around in this area, I can make it out to some. I'll start throwing some money at this car here soon and hope to contribute to the forum.

Rocky

Congrats on the E90! I know this is a long shot but do you happen to know the guy that owns the heavily modded LP560 running around Akron? I saw it a couple weeks ago when I was on my way to class on night.
