Acura is done. Can't they just go out of business? Nsx is an overpriced joke, there sedans can't compete with the Germans or the Japanese. There's no entry-level vehicles. They had a good run. Time to hang up

Can Honda not just reuse the S2000 frame? Put a 2+2 shell on it, keep weight reasonable at ~3150lb and price it under $35,000.

R/D wouldn't be that much, and it would give me an option to save some dollars. If the EPA allows, a 2.5L, 300hp?

Listening to a story on the NSX, it seems Acura is hoping to be able to trickle down the NSX technology to other cars. The story noted how Acura has fallen behind in the luxury market that has steered toward the sportier German brands, and it suggested that the NSX tech will be used to make the rest of the lineup sportier. Maybe, Acura is getting back on track.

On the other hand, it looks like their styling has gone from bad to bland. The MDX that Acura debuted last week dropped the beak, but looks like they adopted the Honda look ... from the last generation, not the more aggressive current look.

Small steps forward, big steps backward. I'm no auto exec, but it can't be that hard to follow the formula of the successful companies. I know that plans are set in motion years ahead of when the product gets to the public. People keep pointing that out with respect to the current mixed vision at Cadillac. But, the lack of flexibility in these companies astounds me.

They have an entry level car, the ILX, which is literally just a rebadged Honda Civic.

We have had that here in Canada since 1997, the names have changed quite a bit though.

1.6EL, then 1.7EL, then CSX and now ILX.

ALL Acura products are just re-badged Hondas. Well, the first gen TSX was just an EU Accord, but I guess that means it really is a re-badged Honda as well.

We are supposed to be getting our own version of the HR-V soon. Hooray, SUV all the things!

Doubt it. Stretching the S2000 unibody would probably make it as stiff as linguini. Then there's like 10+ years worth of safety updates to make.

Additionally, could be wrong but all Acura's are technically imported. Honda's are made all over the place in North American factories.

A buddy of mine was boasting about his Accord months and months ago that it was Japanese. Told him it was probably made near where a bad batch of whiskey came from purchased a few weeks ago(Replacement bottle was way better.) Coincidentally, his folks bought an Acura a month or two later.

Even useless rear seats like in my current car would be good enough. Seen an S2000 in a bad collision and it appeared to hold up well. Safety updates make it ~3175lb then?

Not any more. The new NSX is made in a dedicated factory in Ohio.

Acura needs to take the Sport Hybrid engine and drivetrain from their RLX Sport Hybrid and put it in the Acura TLX along with other exterior modifications to make a high performance version similar to the Type R or M or AMG.

I believe that drivetrain setup propels the 2 ton+ RLX SH to 60 in about 4.9 seconds, so in a lighter car mid 4s may be possible? That's plenty for me.
