I missed it,but I don't think that I'll bother if it was that bad.
I think the whole format needs a reshuffle and that includes getting rid of the three presenters. Yes,they have made the program what it was,at it's best. But they are now responsible for what it is now. The 5th gear lot seem to be the right age spread to attract a mass audience and interact well together... |

I dont think you watch top gear to get any insight into cars, well i dont anyway......that quality left a very long time ago (with tiff etc)
I watch top gear as I find the rapport/craic between the guys quite entertaining, if the factual content is very limited. I would never ever let any of their opinions on a car have any affect on me at all. Fifth Gear however would very easily be a show i think you could base a decision about purchasing a car on. So, two entirely different entities IMO. And that is why there is room for them both. I would liken Top Gear to something like Nuts or FHM tbh whereas I would liken Fifth Gear to stuff like Autocar from a magazin perspecitve. Just as a sideline, oh how I would there would be a similar transposition from the likes of Evo magazine to a TV show. J |

Hammond is possibly the most annoying with his "acting" especially during the news sections. Does seem to hang on everything Clarkson says as if they are some kind of commedy double act. I do enjoy the show generally and see it as light entertainment but last night's show was very poor.

I've got it set to record the series with Sky+ and it's just taking me longer and longer to get around to watching it. That says it all for me. Last week's train nonsense I think I watched on Friday or Saturday with regular use of the FF button.

The "Interceptors" was amusing.
Geldof was very annoying - "my ankles are wonderful" / "those people are wet". WTF? Clearly has a very high opinion of himself. Vettel seemed very decent/genuine last week in comparison.

It was alright except Geldof - crap knows why he was on - he doesn't even like cars!!! I fast forwarded him - enjoyed the tanks/demolition bit . I do wonder what they do has to do with cars though sometimes!

As per Davy, for me it's Hammond with his mock outrage and "Aaarrrggggh!" all the time that makes me watch to smash every television in the house. That and, when the realise they found a funny gag they rape the arse out of it until it's past funny, and then keep using it for another two weeks. I'm disapponinted because I've seen a car show that I loved watching devolve into a programme that's no longer about cars and no where near funny enough to be classified as a comdey. The only parts I can ever laugh at are the unscripted parts, usually between Clarkson and Captain slow), but these are too few and far between. RIP what was once a great programme.

I think I agree with you about Top Gear, not what it used to be.
But Fifth gear????? That show drives me mad even more......if you take out the adverts and the ridiculous amount of air time that's given to their weekly competition to win a dodgy used car, there's about 6 mins actual footage in every show. |

To clarify, I only watched that particular show tonight and I actually did turn it off as I found it boring. Its the unscripted humour I generally mean, it doesnt happen often (especially not of late ) but when it does and they go off on a tangent, it is good. Have faith Sheps mate, Ill still produce the highest caliber of shite and post it on here as oft' as possible On a sidenote, anyone here listening to The Infinite Monkey Cage podcasts? Is it weird that I find that VERY funny and bloody enlightening in equal measure? J |

I still enjoy top gear although I did go off on a tirade when Geldof came on.
something along the lines of "What the fuck is this fucking self righteous cunt doing on a fucking motoring show for fuck sake" Naomi agreed with me. And the ankles thing made me want to break the TV. And then he whined about how clarkson should worry more about the environment. And then he did a lap and spent half the lap on the fucking red line in second. How can he possibly be that shit at anything? Why did Clarkson not just call him a twat. Oh yeah because he would have had a premadonna episode and tarted off set if he had. And then the points of view brigade would have moaned and he'd be forced to apologise again (I think some of you forget how cuckolded the three of them are by pointless BBC regulations these days). The bloke has produced nothing but a pack of little shit spoilt kids. Naomi has met pixie or whatever, and has confirmed that she ACTUALLY uttered the immortal line "Don't you know who I am?" whilst trying to get some unnecessary service or other whilst at London Fashion week. Furthermore Peaches is a crack head. Her only redeeming feature is a good supply of topless material on the internet. But it's lady gaga quality at best. Yeah they are boobs, but they are non existant and also the perforated septum / obvious addiction to drugs, alchohol etc kind of make the guilt factor about cracking on too high anyway. In closing.. Fuck Geldof. In the ass. The prick. Xxx, Dave

Was watching it on iPlayer, funnily enough I also skipped right through the Geldof part and onto the demolition.
Found the whole show a bit boring, the re-used gags started right from the intro with the whole "today James May drives a car, I talk to a man and Hammond flies a helicopter"...etc Fifth gear is a much better show but the adverts really piss me off. Very similar format to other channel 5 shows like the gadget show, 30min program actually simmers down to 15min of real content and then a load of adverts and competition style junk. I also get the impression fifth gear gets paid to do certain reviews by the manufacturer. |
