I would say thats not as bad as you'd think. I know you're looking newer (for an e46) and low miles so SMG isn't going to be horrible. I'd be more concerned with it on a higher mileage car. It's still better than the old SMG's on the e60 545i's.

Do 6 speed swap, my friend is doing one next month. You can use your smg trans and all you need is a 6speed bell housing and about 900 in parts. Smg you can find them with less mileage and don't have subframe issues as well
