Ok, picked up the car last pm with
PPK1 installed. On take off I felt the
tourque difference. I love low end torque.
This also eliminates that 1st to second
hesitation like feeling. Ergo, I don't need
to turn off the DTC every time I get in the
car. A definite decrease in exhaust tone
over all. Also a definite decrease in engine
tone as compared to before. No red, white,
or blue envelope.
I highly recommend it to anyone
who wants an S feel and power and
BMW backed upgrade. fwiw...

About 1.5 hours, depending on how fast your car processes it. Mine took over 5 hours to do, but you only pay them for 1-hour labor, so not too bad.

Just stopped by dealer. 850.00 for the PPK1 software upgrade plus 160.00 for a labor charge. They said the car would need to be there from 2-8 hours to do the install. Said reason was I case there was other updates to the BMW software other than the PPK1. Paper work says you get 20hp and 32tq. So that would give it 320hp and 332tq. Is it really that noticeable from a stock 335i? I do have the sport package. Just wondering before I drop 1k and not have my ride for the day. Thanks

My question is why BMW combined the software with these kind of hardware updates...? Why not an oil cooler in the first place?! And why drop the hardware and give the software as it is with no further changes when, before, you had to install the stronger fan and water cooler...

I think this is all because, in the end, BMW is still trying to make as much money as they can will all this stuff. The tune could've been less expensive and the hardware could've included an oil color, but then they wouldn't make as much, lol.

Yes, it's very noticeable and very worth it. BUT... $850 is too much. All the dealers I called quoted me $750 each time, and I actually got it for $675 plus $160 for labor. Hit them up on that deal. Although, in my opinion, it's worth 1k no problem. 1k barely buys you a crappy axle-back exhaust, which will give you no gains whatsoever. 32 torques is a lot, man--you will feel the difference.

Good mini review, man. The only difference is that my engine note did not get quieter at all and I got the red envelope. And yes, it sure got rid of that throttle lag when taking of from a complete stop, thank goodness.

Also had a noticeable alignment issue with wheel sticking to the right, instead after they fixed it, it is now slightly to the left!
Kind of lousy for a 3 week old car to have crooked steering wheel they can't fix. Is this normal?

As far as the ppk tune, I got a signed and dated badge under the hood with a white warning sticker, the metal performance badge, and in the red envelope was only the other languages for the white software warning sticker.

Exhaust became a different animal as soon as I touched the gas, it sounds heavenly and when the engine is nice and hot has this amazing burble when you let off the throttle. Deep and throaty and super sporty sounding!
As far as the performance the most noticeable aspect is the response of the throttle and engine. Power has increased but the torque pull is where I really feel it. Big difference in low end and midrange punch. Like my sa said, it just wakes the car up.

Good write-up! That's exactly what it does; wakes up the exhaust and the car. Your alignment issue will be covered under warranty. Keep coming back to them until they fix it.

It has 2300 miles on it and while not as fast as my 135, it is still a alot of fun to drive, with plenty of pep and is so smooth. I may just let them keep my N54 135. LOL

It's that good, lol. But I recently drove a 1-series and fell in love. Such a small, nimble and amazingly-handling car it is! I can only imagine how fun a 135i would be, especially if you add that same software!

It gets better, my car is getting the front bumper painted and I had a trip planned to Kentucky from Oklahoma this weekend, my service advisor just called me, said he's going to have my car over the weekend, so I get to take this car to Kentucky instead!

The 1 series is alot of fun though, especially with Full bolt ons and water meth like mine. You should take a tuned one for a spin, you'll fall in love!

You're a lucky man! I had my 1-series loaner over the weeked, wherein I put over 500 miles on it. Loaners are so fun to take for trips and not worry about.

If I ever get a chance to spin in a tuned 135i, I swear I won't miss it.

Nice! I wished you were closer, I'd let you take mine for a spin! If you ever make it to Oklahoma look me up and you can take me up on that offer! LOL

Your color combo is my favorite, too, lol. That sexy blue and biege interior... ahhh. I'll be sure to take you up on the offer if I'm there.

In that case, you won't be sorry. It was very worth it for me. Your car becomes a lot faster, your exhaust will sound a lot better, and I'm actually getting 1 extra MPG after the software. WIN. It's a must for this car.

Beat them up on labor too, $160 is too high.

Thanks. Car was there all day, so I have
no idea how long they took with it.
The exhaust is lower, meaner and I can
hear it more so in the cabin now.
Price was $675.00 plus $ 199.00
install at Classic in Dallas.
One thing I don't get is how can the
exhaust sound change with no
exhaust mod. Must be lope, stroke
changes??? Call me stupid!

Question

Hey Guys,

Still enjoying reading this thread!

Is there anyone in the Atlanta area that has the PPK1 or PPK2 installed and which dealership did you do it at and what was the cost?

Def going to do this!

Thanks Guys!
