New battery and scantool

Hey Folks,

Got another "low battery" warning today so decided to go ahead and get a new battery as well as a scan tool. After looking through the posts I chose these two items:

My current battery is white (flooded, non-agm). I am going to replace it with this one ($149)

After looking into Carly and a few other scan tools, I decided to go with the Schwaben (on sale for $179 with no tax (WA) and free shipping):

What do you all think? Good decisions?

I've been considering buying a better scan tool myself. That looks like a nice unit, but BMW-only? I was starting to settle on the CRP129. It can do many more cars for not much more money. I wonder if it's missing alot of BMW functionality you might need...

Actually ended up getting the battery for $119. Orielly's matched Autozone's 20% off coupon. Not bad for a $200+ battery...
This is the one that I got (49EXTJ)

This battery is 100AH though (The reserve capacity is, not sure if this is the same as AH).. Is that ok or can I no longer just register the battery? EDIT: I am actually not sure if this is the correct AH rating. Using the formula from this thread: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...=473109&page=2
"To my understanding to figure out the AH rating what you need to do is divide the RC (reserve capacity) by 2 and add 16" my AH is 91. So I should be fine if that is correct.

When I look at the compatible list of cars it goes up to the 2010 335d, but not the 2011...

Here is the coupon (expires 11/27) http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/o/c...tm_content=m62

Nadir Point Only got the beamer right now... Also figure I could sell it along with the car if that day comes.

Found this also mentioned on another post: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...=713372&page=2 (number 43)

Amp/Hours = (Reserve Capacity / 2) plus 16 (i.e: If your battery had a Reserve Capacity of 100, you would get 66 AH rating)

or 50% multiplied by Reserve Capacity plus 16= the ah value (.50 x rc + 16=ah value)

So I think I am OK with this battery as the math comes out to 91AH.

Thoughts (other than damn BMW does not make this easy..)?

Let me know the functionality of that scan tool. I've been eyeballing it for a long time. Main things I'll need it for is diagnostics(obviously), priming the fuel pump after filter install, DPF regen, and registering a new battery. If it has coding functionality like Carly does, then even better. Maybe a quick write up if it isn't too much trouble? Thanks! Looks like good purchases to me!
