my buddy decided on a lexus LS-F. have to prove him wrong

I gave him a ride in my car running cobb stg 1 agg and he thought twice but considering his company paid for the th ISF he went for it.. (no blaming him). I am now running cobb st1+ ,. Ets 5in fmic and bms dci. I am thinking it should be a pretty close race as they are almost identical to e90 m3s and trap 112-114. Does anybody have any experience with these cars running a similar tune as I. We are heading to mexico this week and wanna show him that he made the wrong decision. I have access to e85 but won't help much without a protune. Do I need it?

You don't need a protune to start running an ethanol mix. Just download ATR make your own map.

If his company is paying for the isF, then he made the right decision regardless of who wins.

I am not at all opposed to that but would not know where to begin. Any pointers would be great. I don't want to try the otc e30 maps due to lack of downpipes.

Best of luck during races though...If I were you I would load up the OTS E30 map just to make sure I prove my point..

Haha.. they would have paid for the 335 as well. Not sure if I should run the e30 maps without downpipes but I guess it wouldn't hurt to try it and log. Definitely want to beat him. We have a lot of mutual friends waiting to see us run and the loser wont live it down for a while.

Why prove a point, both cars are very nice, especially if work pays for it.
Just be happy with what you got. Simple.

I agree with you but im responding to the OP's specific situation...He said he wants to prove a point and therefore I gave him a suggestion...

OP was the one trying to prove a point not me...But just between me and you if work was paying for either an IS-F (MSRP ~$62k) or a 335i (MSRP ~$43k), you would choose the 335!? Its not about the money but id say the IS-F is a better well-rounded package in both power and suspension vs. the 335i...Especially for a company car that would most likely have to stay stock...wouldnt you agree?

You just have to taper boost a littler more in the higher RPM and you might be fine without downpipes....But since I have not tested personally youd need to log and experiment yourself...

if you want to play it safe just buy a set of the budget friendly downpipes for $300-$400 and then run the E30 map safely

Yea I plan on doing so but want to try and get my turbos replaced under warranty (slight wastegate rattle) before bolting on downpipes. I'll probably try an e30 map and get some logs. If not I will try stage 2+ with the additional octane. Just as long as the logs are good and the car is happy I am happy. O, and even happier if i am faster than an isf. Hehe

I would start with the stage 1+ map(I don't like spinning the guts out the turbos with the stock DPs, there's more to it than just timing corrections) adjust the fuel scalar and up the timing. With roughly an e30 mix I would start with 8° in the mids climbing to 12°. That should be a pretty conservative place to start, from there start adding a degree or so until you start seeing timing corrections. You'll probably end up around 12° climbing to 15° but I definitely wouldn't start there.

If you have any questions or need help you can PM me.

Great. Thank you! This is something I have been meaning to look into but wasnt sure exactly where to begin. I will start looking into it this weekend. And I probably will have some questions so thanks in advance for your help and advice.

Like i said, there's more to it than just timing corrections. If someone wants to run a map designed for a FBO car with just E85 in the tank on a stock car more power to 'em.
